Kurtz: Did media protect Bill Cosby because of politics? Never autoplay videos
With Bill Cosby's rape allegations once again in the headlines, some of his old jokes are now being unearthed and scrutinized.
After two women have recently come forward claiming to have been drugged and raped by the comedian, a joke from Cosby's 1969 album It's True! It's True! has been making the rounds. In the stand-up recording, he recounts a story of being a 13-year-old boy and learning that (allegedly) when you slip "Spanish fly" into a woman's drink, it will make her more susceptible to a man's advances.

I was fortunate to attend a live show by Coz earlier this year. He did just fine. He is OLD, though.
The media sure did. They made him into some character of being a good man. Now, that more claims are coming out against him, he has to answer to it. I never bought into him being my dad because my mom told me that he was accused of drugging young girls to abuse.
Years ago, in the 80's, I attended a workplace Affirmative Action meeting which featured a Bill Cosby video wherein he complained about various ethnic groups, leading off with the cold opening, "I don't much like OLD people." Going on to opine that, "wherever there's a holdup of some kind, in a line or something, if you look up there, it'll be an OLD person slowing things down." Of course looking around, I could see everybody smiling and nodding.
Well, yeah. That's the point. Maybe I missed something, but it seemed that in every story, the girls had put themselves alone with him, far from helpor allowed that situation to evolve. If the stories are true, it of course reveals him to be a disgusting criminal. It doesn't put blame on our daughters to say that we want them to avoid situations like thatthat's what traditional social customs are for. If guilty, Cosby was preying on a fashionably imposed carelessness that we are not obliged to obey.
In reality, we live in the dangerous world of human nature, and one of the habits that has always served society well is skepticism and prudenceand an un-PC understanding of human weakness and sex differences. It works wella fact that is underlined during those wacky historical periods when men and women decide that they are more important than those old rules.
Like when Cosby jumped on the Tawana Brawley bandwagon as she was assassinating the character of Steve Pagones and others.
A comedian no one heard of called him a rapist, and it was—as you might suspect—in the course of complaining about Cosby’s critiques of black culture. To be fair, though, these allegations have been around for years and have been swept under the rug until now. I don’t know if he’s guilty or innocent, but it seems his “pull your pants up and speak proper English” is a case of a broken clock being correct twice a day. He certainly is no friend of conservatism and he certainly denounces any criticism of Obama as racism, like any other race card hustler.
The Spanish fly predates “Americana” and is fascinating stuff. Used properly by Dermatologists, like me, it can tolerably remove warts and molluscum skin lesions. The FDA is currently making it hard to acquire, but until true antiviral therapy is developed for those two conditions in my professional opinion it should remain available, but ONLY in properly trained hands. Ignorant usage has been fatal. Improper use in the manner Cosby’s joke suggests has a very long and infamous history, including by that gold standard of perversion, the Marquis de Sade, who was sentenced to death in absentia for it. But, just as today, being one of the elite meant that if you go far enough over the edge justice never reaches you. Those interested in macabre medical mysteries, and blessed with VERY strong stomachs, can learn all they want to know about “Spanish Fly” in the title story of an excellent collection “The Beetle of Aphrodite and other medical mysteries.”
Casting couch remorse, perhaps?
He’s absolutely NO hero. I condemn the MSM for protecting a chosen black man for so long.
Once again, they failed at their job.
I wish the media would “unearth” 0bola’s college and medical records.
Good to hear.
thanks
