He is not a U.S. citizen. I am not clear as to why we are treating him. Is he paying for his own treatment?
Don’t mean to be insensitive, but this guy should NOT have been brought to the US. Bet we don’t even have to ask who’s picking up the tab for his treatment.
I keep thinking it would be better to treat patients like him on a boat. It would be easier to keep it contained.
A Sierra Leone citizen, the 44-year-old lives in Maryland and is a permanent U.S. resident, according to a person in the United States with direct knowledge of the situation.

The U.S. State Department said it was helping facilitate the transfer of Salia; the U.S. Embassy in Freetown said he was paying for the expensive evacuation. The travel costs and care of other Ebola patients flown to the U.S. were covered by the groups they worked for in West Africa.
Wonder if the people treating him will be going on bike rides, plane trips, to bowling alleys, etc? Planning weddings in other states? Demanding respect and five minutes of fame?
“Extremely ill” means extremely contagious. The O-verlords won’t be satisfied until we have a good solid outbreak here. Obama should show solidarity and fairness and go give the guy a big hug.
A snippet from the article referenced:
“Salia, a Sierra Leone citizen who lives in Maryland, first showed Ebola symptoms on Nov. 6 but tested negative for the virus. He eventually tested positive on Monday.”
Note: He was well into symptoms BEFORE his blood test showed positive for the virus.
His wife, Isatu, lives in New Carrollton, and they have two children, 12 and 20, also living in the United States. He has been a visitor to their Maryland home but has devoted most of his time to his medical work in Freetown.
