In the 1960s his comedy records were top sellers and some of the funniest stuff out there. I saw him live once in the 1970s. One of the best shows I ever saw. The man was very funny at least to me at the time. I found the Cosby tv show in the 1980s a bit bland but it was a huge ratings hit. Everything else you say is true and I stopped being a fan of his since I learned of all that mostly here on FR If you had told me in the 60s and 70s about his politics it would have gone right over my head at the time. I enjoyed his comedy. The sexual assault stuff sickens and saddens me now and ruins anything from him at this point. I haven’t paid attention to him in quite a while though.

He is very outspoken about family values in the black community. They view him as conservative on social issues. He tells them to stop blaming other people and take a look at what they are doing to themselves.
He supports democrats, including Obama, but that is not the whole picture. He is not like Obama in the race baiting category.

I also had sympathy for him when his son was murdered. How could anyone not but like you said above it is irrelevant to the accusations he now faces.
I listened to the interview.
They are talking about African American art and boom, out pops the question about the allegations. Then silence. Lots of dead air. I was astonished and ashamed.
It was an uncalled for attack. For what reason, I’m unsure.

And that’s the other shoe dropping — Hillary will need some cover fire, and she gets what she wants. This isn’t a comment about whether the allegations are true, merely the timing.
Well if she decides to run and pulls this “I am for the women” crap, I am going absolutely obliterate her in an ad campaign, advertising how she helped set free the rapist of a 12 year old, how her husband raped and sexually abused women. I’ll be damned if we get another pathological lying far leftist in the White House.

Never understood Cosby's popularity, and his "comedy" made me vicariously embarrassed.
I found nothing humorous at all.
Money or attention is most likely at the bottom of it all.
People used to think a 14 year old girl had the sense to not only say no but also the sense to not put herself in a position where she would have to fight her way out of it.
But have they raised the age of consent because people are getting more stupid all of the time?
They try to tell us that kids are getting smarter but the consent law tells us a different story.
Any one ever try to get a woman to do something she did not want to do, regardless of age?
When the consent law reaches 25, 30 or sixty lets talk about it again.

I knew a skilled yacht painter in Charleston SC 20 years ago. He also did high-end private plane and jet painting jobs. He did a custom paint job for Cosby’s jet and was around him long enough to be shocked. He said he had never met or known somebody who was so 180* different in real life from the crafted TV persona. He was a screamer, a dictator, and a constant humiliator of his family, posse, assistants, and even temporary employees like him when no cameras were rolling.
No doubt Hillary will make moves on Satan and end up trying to take over Hades via marriage.

The comment I just re-posted is correct IMHO. It’s about power, and overpowering. Please also read the comment I posted above about the custom jet painter’s observations to me 20 years ago when Cosby was at his pinnacle of popularity.
He is a great dad on camera, and an absolute psycho tyrant in private. He gets off on the power trip, manipulation, etc. IMHO.
I think your reasoning for his defense is exactly how he gets away with it.
Predators are often those with the best possible reputations. They rely on these good reputations to help them get away with it and plant doubt in the direction of the accuser (who is often a real victim).
How many people didn’t believe that a Catholic priest would harm just one kid, much less dozens?
How about a dozen women making grooming/rape allegations over the years, but being so overpowered by Cosby’s mega-prestige, that nobody would ever listen?
A similar thing happened in the UK with an ultra-popular star-maker named Jimmy Savile. He groomed and raped dozens to 100s of wannabee stars, boys and girls, over the decades. NOBODY would believe the mind-screwed and body-screwed victims.
