People ^ | November 14, 2014 | Tara Fowler

Ever since he was a kid, Mark Schultz idolized his older brother.

So when Dave Schultz was murdered in cold blood by his athletic sponsor, the eccentric millionaire John du Pont, Mark's entire world was turned upside down.

"Losing Dave was like losing my anchor," Mark tells PEOPLE. "Dave was like a one-man cult and I was his follower. When he was killed, I was left floating free, wondering what to do."

Mark recounts the story of his brother's senseless death in his new memoir Foxcatcher, out Nov. 18. The events are also the basis for a movie of the same name (not based on Mark's book), starring Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Steve Carell. And the former Office star is earning some major Oscar buzz for his portrayal of du Pont.

Not that I know of. John du Pont was apparently paranoid schizophrenic.

sidenote: If he’s still in town, I am presently about 2 miles away from where Channing Tatum is visiting his relatives. I thought about trying to spot him, but heck I’m too old for that...lol

He caused quite a stir visiting a sick relative in Montgomery this week...

I’m pretty ambivalent about him as an actor but it’s still pretty cool that I could run into a movie star in my rural neck of the woods...lol

From what I remember of the case, that was du Pont’s problem. He regularly had athletes and athletic types at his home for recreation purposes. But the media played the du Pont is insane angle to keep the activity of gay community from investigation.

LOL, I just say that whenever I see two grown men smiling in one picture. But thanks for the info.

No. They are two different men. Dr. D is still alive and is now retired from pro wrestling.
