one thing we may be able to learn from all this is
that
the teaching of American values (of individual and national liberty, etc.)......... and the Judeo-Christian values (of integrity/honesty/charity/etc.)....
all need to be substantially strenghtned (for they appear to have NOT ‘taken hold’ very well...amongst so many people these days....)
What can we do:
1. make sure students are honestly taught American history and ‘the western tradition’ (of developing liberty, etc.) in our public schools... and
2. try to strengthen Church (and synagogue) teaching, preaching, community.... regardless of specific denomination....the Biblical moral values are the same...
(more “hard sermons” — real teaching and real upholding of core Biblical values -— in place of some of the “magic salvation” and “prosperity gospel” and “progressive Christianity” or “reformed Judaism” substitute values)
or something like that. It very much appears that many people have drifed away (and gotten sucked in by the propaganda you mentioned) because core knowledge was not taught well in the first instance?

Perhaps in some cases... but on the whole there’s been many focused programs and certainly plenty of opportunity to the youth and people to learn and obsorb what God has to say to man. Perhaps it’s more the matter that many have ‘rejected’ the truth of what they do know because it’s simply easier to follow the crowd.
