This Democrat Is Giving Up on ObamaCare
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 11/13/2014 | Burke Beu

I grew up in a Democratic family. I have been a registered Democrat since age 18, a Democratic candidate for statewide office in Colorado and a party precinct captain in that caucus state. I’ve volunteered for numerous Democratic candidates and contributed to party causes and campaigns. The 2014 election results were extremely disappointing for me, but hardly a surprise.

I voted for Barack Obama in 2008, then lost my job in the Great Recession. I was lucky; my brother lost his job and his house. I survived on part-time jobs while paying out-of-pocket for my health insurance.

I voted for President Obama again in 2012, then received a cancellation notice for my health insurance. This was due to ObamaCare, the so-called Affordable Care Act. However, I couldn’t afford anything else.

Midterm elections in the second term of a presidency are difficult on the president’s party, and the Obama administration’s crisis-of-the-month headlines weren’t helpful. Ultimately, though, ObamaCare was the catalyst for my party’s midterm thumping.

Hey Burke, SUCK IT! You sound like those Germans shouting “Hitler Kaput!” when the American Army came through Germany in 1945.

He voted for BamBam twice and I bet he would again.

Yep.

Remember the California dingbat who whined, "Of COURSE, I want healthcare for the poor -- but I didn't know I'D have to pay for it!"

Do not know what prompted that, but the response was inordinately uncalled for.

I can't BELIEVE some of the things I've had said to my face from liberals over the past few years.

The arrogance, the condescension, the visceral hatred.

But the worst thing I've had to endure was my fellow "conservatives" lecturing me about "civility" and how I have to put up with these insults for some kind of "moral high ground".

If I was Barack Obama and I was reading FreeRepublic on a semi regular basis - I'd be forcing a Socialist agenda down everyone's throat too.

No one's fighting him on anything.

In fact, no even seems to be complaining on what would normally be considered opposition boards.

You expect Republicans to fight back? People like you (Fungi) won't even fight back in chat rooms. :(

Wow. A Democrat who can not only read and write, but is smart enough to realize when someone is calling them stupid.

Maybe there’s hope for them.

This would be really funny, if it were not so sad and affecting all the rest of us.

Lots of people tried to tell them that this was a big con job. However, anyone who spoke up as smeared, called names, and ridiculed. They did this for their political princes, and those same people were laughing at them behind their backs.

The news media - CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, WaPo, NYT e.t.c, covered up, lied and joined in the smearing of anyone who criticised O'care.

Correct. Act of Traducer. Including the “Bart” bribes. The Exempt Ones roaring with applause with the bribe passage. The Extortion Lobby scoring by yearly increments times 500 million Mill-Stoners.
The Big Bureaus are all part of the Party, paying lip service to tea party freedom types.

I certainly got the impression that he wants to move very quickly to a single-payer system. As I read between the lines, I think the author felt that Obama Care did not go far enough.

Agreed. This writer is probably upset that 0bamacare isn't the rainbow covered gay wedding cake they hoped for.

This Obamacare crap has been a setup from day one—to be a failure. In order to justify a single-payer system. But then again, I’ve heard it said that “American’s are stupid”.

The entire process has been nothing more than a scam—taxes and control is what it boils down to.
