Good - i think Brother is one of the more compatible. For a Lexmark i had to open a web page and do other things i forgot, and the printing options were minimal. And see here for what i had to do under OpenSuse.
I do under this is the fault of HW manufactures not coding for Linux, and things are improving, while the many flavors of Linux can result in varying compatibility.
Hah! That looks like what Windows 7 did when I tried to install an old (parallel port) Brother printer ... it puk’d, and I never found any drivers at all. The printer was showing its age, so I just said “eff it” and bought a new one. That was a couple of years ago ... the “new one” from a couple of years ago that I bought to work (flawlessly) with Win7 is also the one I got to work (flawlessly) with Ubuntu last week.
I put off doing anything with Linux for years; so far it’s performing well for me. But that’s only a week ... eventually something will annoy me.
The interface certainly IS different from Windows. “Right Mouse” doesn’t do much, for example. I’m still finding my way with it.
