Worst Places I've Ever Visited - From the Man Who's Been Everywhere
Yahoo ^ | October 28, 2014 | Lee Abbamonte

Posted on 10/31/2014 7:00:53 AM PDT by C19fan

Many of us say, "That was the worst place in the world!" But really: How many of us truly have the authority to say that? Lee Abbamonte does. He's the youngest American to visit all 193 member nations of the United Nations, and he's well on his way to visiting all 324 on The Travelers’ Century Club list, which includes territories and unique destinations in addition to nations. (Lee expects to have 321 of the 324 countries checked off by the end of the year).

If it wasn't for the west's wanton raping and pillaging of the first nation people's of these lands they would be as wealthy as the west. - Barack Obama Sr.

Yes, Tuvalu is an actual United Nations member state and is one of the smallest nations on Earth. In fact, it may not even exist in 30 years because it’s only about 7 feet above sea level, and experts say it'll be washed away in the next 30 years.

The oceans have risen only a few inches in the last century and there is absolutely no evidence that the oceans are going to rise 7-10 feet in the next 30 years.

This is true, there is no place on earth like NYC. There are terrible things but there are jaw dropping, amazing things. If you are well financed or hanging out with well financed people, it can be amazing.

Gee, countries run by Mohammedan and African dictators (or both) make up 75% of his list of twelve.

Yep. They tried to have it changed a few years ago, but evidently someone at the FAA had been there and felt SUX was appropriate. So SUX it stayed.

Kid you not, at one point, due to the massive stockyards, Sioux City’s claim to fame was that it housed the world’s largest pile of ... excrement. It built a shopping mall on a hilltop right above a sewage plant. And the average intelligence quotient of its citizens ranges from Moron to Blithering Idiot.

From what I’ve seen, in a global sense of World-Cities, NYC is the best, friendliest place on earth.

The old Abbey Victoria had a "diner". Not a really friendly place.

French Lady "Beurre?"

Waitress: "What?!" laughing

French Lady "Beurre?"

Waitress "Is she cold?!" more laughing

Me "She'd like some butter"

Waitress "She should learn English!"

I used to call on the buyer at Iowa Public Service of Sioux City.
There were nearly always a sleeping boozer or hobo on the street corner outside the IPS office.
Then, I could catch a whiff of one of the packing plants from across the river...

“Lagos, Nigeria is the worst place for him? Obviously he’s never been to New York city.”

Obviously, you’ve never been to Lagos.

Karachi Pakistan is the only place on this list I’ve been to, and I can’t imagine any place worse than that.

Time for a little Hank Snow on this thread...

I’ve Been Everywhere

I was totin’ my pack along the dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high and canvas covered load
“If you’re going to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride”
So I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside

He asked me if I’d seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, “Listen, bud I’ve traveled every road in this here land”

I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve crossed the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been everywhere

Been to Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow
Sarasota, Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama
Mattawa, La Paloma, Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo, Tocopilla
Barranquilla, and Padilla, I’m a killer

I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve crossed the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been everywhere

Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana, Washington
Houston, Kingston, Texarkana, Monterey, Ferriday
Santa Fe, Tallapoosa, Glen Rock, Black rock, Little Rock
Okaloosa, Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee Spirit Lake
Grand Lake, Devil’s Lake, Crater Lake, for pete’s sake

I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve crossed the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been everywhere

Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika, Shefferville
Jacksonville, Waterville, Costa Rica, Pittsfield, Springfield,Bakersfield
Shreveport, Hackensack, Cadillac, Fond Du Lac, Davenport, Idaho
Jellicoe, Argentina, Diamontina, Pasadena, Catalina, see what I mean, sir

I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve crossed the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been everywhere

Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravellburg, Colorado, Ellensburg, Rexburg
Vicksburg, El Dorado, Larrimore, Atmore, Haverstraw Chattanooga
Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska, Opelika, Baraboo, Waterloo, Kalamazoo
Kansas City, Sioux City, Cedar City, Dodge City, what a pity!

I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve crossed the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I know some place you haven’t been
I’ve been everywhere

I grew up in So Cal and visited Tijuana a few times. Meh.

I and bride walked over the bridge into Neuvo Laredo in about 2004 to get real mexican food, and lemme ya: never going again, anywhere in Mexico. Even to resorts.

This is a hard and fast rule for my wife and loved ones.

Thank you. I was not going to click on a slideshow for this.

I watch The Amazing Race every year and I always hate the episodes in India/Pakistan because, despite all the sugarcoating, these are cramped people living in filth. Brushing your teeth in the river where animals bathe and humans take a dump? Can’t get that visual out of my minds.

Their trips to places like Vietnam/Cambodia are also difficult to watch. They really don’t spend much time in Africa, I suppose, because it is largely unsafe for Americans.

Wife and I used to visit Ixtapa around New Years for a week.
Inexpensive, friendly, clean and welcoming.

Recent news from Mexico rules out another holiday down south.
