New York Ebola doctor 'LIED to police about his travel': NYPD discovered he rode subway, ate at restaurant and went bowling after cops checked his MetroCard

Dr Craig Spencer diagnosed with Ebola six days after returning to New York During that time he rode subways, caught a cab, and went out bowling But when officers quizzed him he said he was at home, it has been claimed When police pulled MetroCard and bank data they learned the truth

The doctor currently being treated for Ebola in New York lied to police about travelling around the city for six days before he was quarantined, it has been revealed.

Dr Craig Spencer initially told officers that he had isolated himself in his Harlem apartment after returning from Guinea where he had been treating people for the illness.

It was only when cops checked his MetroCard and bank statement that they realised he had been roaming the city for nearly a week, visiting a sandwich shop, taking an Uber cab, and going bowling.

It was only when officers rang Dr Spencer and confronted him with the evidence that he confessed, according to the New York Post.

Dr Spencer is a Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontiers) volunteer who went to Guinea to help fight Ebola on September 16.

He spent a month working in treatment centres in close contact with sufferers, before flying to Brussels on October 14. After a three-day layover, he landed at JFK Airport on October 17.

He was screened for Ebola on arrival, but reported no symptoms and tests did not detect a trace of the deadly virus.

[ Three possible explanations come to mind:

1. he’s an idiot

2. he’s not an idiot but suffers from the impulse to lie impulsively for no reason whatsoever

3. he’s motivated ideologically to introduce more chaos into the situation ]

4. He thinks because he does “some good” that he can do “no evil”... ie. HUBRIS

How about because he was bored?

He had just returned from a demanding situation so he wanted some R & R. To decompress. And he wanted it immediately!

It takes a certain personality type and courage to volunteer to work in an Ebola Hot Zone.

A lot of the doctors and nurses there are megalomaniacs with an invincibility delusion.

To lie about his activities proves that this type can’t be trusted and should be locked up for a few weeks to protect the rest of us.

They should not suffer financially though, they should be paid regular salary by their employer with a government subsidy if necessary.

Any reason there is a reason this man had a vendetta? What do we know about his politics? Another self-loathing American?

I’ve asked this question before but given your post, I’ll ask it again: how are we so sure that these two nutcases (the other one being Kaka Hickox) didn’t help spread the disease in Africa? If they’re sloppy and lying here why not in Africa?

What is the big deal about being quarantined? When I had whooping cough as a six year old, the health dept. nailed a quarantine sign beside our front door, and we complied. Big deal. It was a fact of life in those days.

But that was when the health of other people was more important than bowling and bar hopping.

Why on earth would a government subsidy be needed if they are getting paid?

I think they should have to write academic papers on their experiences and the medical practices in the hot zone. Easily 21 days of ‘busywork’ to occupy their time and brains until they can make a soup run or bowl.

And the rest of the world might learn something besides.

"Illegal search! Why did they look? /S

Actually, it probably was an illegal search and it's kind of scary that NYC can have a detailed itinerary of your life on a moment's notice without a search warrant.

The doctor is a prime example of why quarantines shouldn't just be a guideline or voluntary. People working with ebola patients develop a certain amount of denial that they can catch it. And that denial can lead them to put other people at risk.
