The teaching of evolution was political....just as it is today.
I trust that at some point after I'm gone from here, God will entertain at least a few of my questions.
> The teaching of evolution was political...
As is the teaching of its ugly twin sister, Anthropomorphic Global Warming.
Reading Michael Waldrop's book Complexity right now, which factors these in as major arguments from the scientists who believe that computer simulations that they term "artificial life" and which display emergent, self-assembling behavior. It's almost laughable in its circularity.
"I've proven that life most likely originated emergently from the self-assembly of autocatalysed precursor chemicals by creating a computer program that acts the way I programmed it to."
Sure.
The assertion of this list item challenges logic to the extreme. The same environment led to a fish, a mammal, and a reptile to evolve to the same body shape and behavior. ID adherents are numb. Keep in mind the porpoise and ichthyosaur evolved into tetra-pod landlubbers before adapting to the sea again and assuming the shape of the ancient fish, the shark. Adaptation is a powerful concept. They all became streamlined predators.
That's the ticket. Claim that evolutionists are pretentious. It never ceases to amaze me that Creationists continue to abuse the meaning of evolution. Evolve means change. Darwin proposed the mechanism, adaptation. You creationists keep confusing it with abiogenesis, the origin of life.
Evolution - In The Beginning:
How did evolution stumble upon the Signal Recognition Particle (SRP) in the very beginning? An elegant system that scans for an amino acid signal - finds it - binds to that signal then triggers the other elements of the SRP to put the ribosome in pause mode. The SRP then helps the ribosome dock to a membrane tunnel in which it can resume protein synthesis.
How did evolution stumble upon Programmed Cell Death (PCD) again in the very beginning? An altruistic cell response causing the death of cells so others might live. Blind and unguided evolution just stumbled upon these systems in lifes beginning?
God save us from the creationists! Darwin had no idea about signal recognition particles. He looked at the holistic process such as "Darwin's Finches, birds that adapted across the Pacific to local environments. He elaborated how the breeding of pigeons was similar to adaptation where selective breeding brought about change. He proposed the mechanism as natural selection as the agent of change.
Archeologists have been digging up fossils and working with related sciences such as geology to piece the evolutionary tree together. They have not been spending time preaching atheism. They just don't find evidence for a 6000 year old earth. It's not just evolutionists, it's also cosmologists and geologists that see a very old earth and even older universe. They are taking care to continue to review new evidence to refine the theory. Creationists on the other hand propose no mechanism other than supernatural agents that they cannot explain.
I am not a creationist and I know how evolution works. You did not answer my questions - try again.

Right. Apparently you’re unaware that even evolutionists recognize that if they’re to address Darwinian evolution, they’ll need to augment it with something that address origins of life. Hence, the whole structure surrounding autocatalysis and the emergent properties they believe resulted in life at the “edge of chaos.” That has been investigated for something like three decades now.
