Do any Freepers know anything about the Battle Rifle Company? I saw one of their rifles in the latest issue of America's 1st Freedom.

Not quite ready for battle, it would seem.

I'd never heard of these guys. They have some nice looking hardware. (that's a cool name for a gunmaker too!) You could have at least shared a link..... lol

Go to their homepage, click the ‘media’ link then click the ‘articles about us’ link on the drop down menu. There is a story speaking of their improvements since they first started off slow. (Within that story is a link to a story of TBR’s initial problems.)

You are correct about sharing a link. Completely slipped by me. My apologies. The rifles do look good though, don’t they?

The company was completely unknown to me so I did a search and found the article really blasting them and a couple of others including a follow up.

It sounds like they had no idea what they were doing to start with but are making real efforts to improve their product. I bet by now they are OK.

Still I probably would buy another brand until I knew they were OK.

Hmmmm? From what I see so far, I don’t think I’d take one into battle. Rather have a used CETME or G-3.

I don’t know anything about the company, but I wouldn’t trust any gun maker who jumped into the business during the Obama Gun Panic of 2009. Good for you for reading a blog tester and other sources. It’s not fun to spend several hundred dollars or even thousands on something that’s supposed to be fun but turns out to be unreliable crap.

They do look good, but as in many things, looks are not everything. I carried various weapons in Iraq in 2004-2005. I had a Yugoslav AK-47, that worked like a clock and was tricked out with pictinney rails, forward handle and quick acquisition optics. But I obtained a tanker model AK (Short barrel) which was just plain cool and convenient fro short rides in Baghdad, where you might need to shoot and scoot from a moving car. I discovered from an Iraq buddy, that it was locally shortened by the Iraqi military under Saddam. They were known to cycle perhaps 3/4 of a 30 rd magazine and stop. I kept it till I left, but never carried it again.
This company is rather new and hope for them they come along. There are so many AR mfg, but a few are superior.

PTR in the South Carolina makes a nice clone (semi-auto) of the HK 91.

Lots of good, inexpensive ARs on the market right now. You can pick up a Colt for under $800, or some boutique makes for not much more.

The folks who made the Bushmaster name sold that company and the same (former Bushmaster) production line employees are now making a great rifle under the Windham Weaponry name.
