I can't stand Dan Maffei.

Does John Katko have a decent chance?

A GOP poll a month ago had Katko at 43% to Maffei’s 46%. Possible for the GOP, though Maffei is favored.

I'm just starting to see Katko signs, probably 6-1 over Maffei signs in some of the Syracuse suburbs. And not the rural areas, but the certain suburbs where I would expect to see Maffei. Just wondering if there had been any movement. I have some Dem acquaintances with Katko signs.

Ordinarily, I’d have preferred to see ex-Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle run again, but Zero took her out of the contest by appointing her to the Consumer Product Safety Commission last year.

Katko’s big problem is that he is being massively outspent. He has $727,000 at last report while Maffei has a whopping $2.4 million. In almost every instance, you can determine the winner of a race based on money.

Exception: Eric Cantor (;

True. Also, back in 2000, in the GOP primary for VA-1, Paul Jost attempted to buy the vacant seat for himself, massively outspending Del. Jo Ann Davis (shelling out a million just in the primary, she had less than 1/10th of that). Davis had the credentials and the base support, and she pulled off a plurality win.

After her death in 2007, Jost tried to buy the seat again and almost succeeded, but Rob Wittman beat him on the 6th ballot at the special convention.

NY-24 could be a toss up , but Maffei has refused to debate his opponent; he even refuses to go on the air via radio or TV .
The same is true of Cuomo (D) , refuses 'on air debate', or even televized; he figures it's 'in the bag' .
The unconstitutional ,misnamed, "SAFE ACT" could affect the election , state-wide, if the 2nd Amendment folks come out in force .
Maffei believes he is secure by not even opening up his mouth as the district has recently, barely voted democRATic .
Hopefully, the electorate is smarter than Maffei; the truth will tell in november .

It’s disgraceful the way the party has treated Rob Astorino, with that corpulent turd and Zero bootlicker, Crispy Crème, refusing to campaign for him. Given that Cuomo is a potential ‘16 contender, that the GOP isn’t going after him hammer and tong is appalling.
