From the Organic Prepper: Lockdown No One Goes OUt/ No One Goes In

http://www.theorganicprepper.ca/when-the-cdc-tells-us-to-prepare-for-the-ebola-pandemic-things-are-about-to-get-real-09152014

“T A city in China was locked down last week due to the Bubonic Plague and the Black Plague caused one man to die and 3 more people to become ill in Colorado last month.

If the situation hits close enough to home that you decide to go it’s time to isolate yourselves, the rules to this are intractable.

No one goes out. No one comes in.

I know this sounds harsh, but there are to be no exceptions. If you make exceptions, you might as well go wrestle with runny-nosed strangers at the local Wal-Mart and then come home and hug your children, because it’s the same thing.

Once you have gone into lockdown mode, that means that the supplies you have on hand are the supplies you have to see you through. You can’t run out to the store and get something you’ve forgotten.

That means if a family member shows up, they have to go into quarantine for at least 4 weeks, during which time they are not allowed access to the home or family, nor are they allowed to go out in public. Set up an area on your property that is far from your home for them to hang out for their month of quarantine. If at the end of the month they are presenting no symptoms, then they can come in.

It sadly means that you may be forced to turn someone away if they are ill, because to help them means to risk your family.

Now is the time to plan with your preparedness group how you intend to handle the situation. Will you shelter together, in the same location, and reserve a secondary location to retreat to if the situation worsens further or if someone becomes ill? Will you shelter separately because of the nature of the emergency? Decide together on what event and proximity will trigger you to go into lockdown mode. Make your plan and stick to it, regardless of pressure from those who think you are over-reacting, the school that your children have stopped attending, and any other external influences. If you’ve decided that there is a great enough risk that you need to go into lockdown, you must adhere to your plan. (source)”

Great news! That’s pretty soon. Thanks for keeping me informed.

At the rate things are going, you might be in your new place “in the nick of time”.

The best sodium chlorite source is pool shock. It lasts forever, and you can mix whatever ratio you want. It is more compact, and a lot lighter.

It’s on my honey-do-list. Do you have the ratios at hand?

Not handy, but they are are easily found on a web search. I was just listening to a book that discussed it, but I’m sure any survivalist site will have it.

Reading these threads just makes me sad.

I am ready for a long stay in one place.

So much of the information does not apply to people who are alone...I do think the loneliness will be the hardest thing to accept.

Gun show this weekend...have to check inventory.....

How will we know when it is time to withdraw?

I’ll get some friends, lots of pretty girls, go into my isolated castle and tell stories till the pandemic passes like Boccaccio in The Decameron.

Let me guess. You're going to spend your time putting the devil back into hell.

Just don't let one of the girls get on top, or *you're* liable to get pregnant.

Cheers!

You are right these are sad times. When my husband and I pray together twice a day, we tell the Lord how grateful we are for the life he has given us. I know that my husband and I can be most content with only each other’s company; we like that best. But you bring up those who are already alone and will have to suffer by themselves because of their isolation. That hurts my heart to think how terrible that would be.

I do not know when it will be time to withdraw, 3C-Joy. I only hope and pray that those sasd and alone will attract those who will want to draw them in their circle of friendship and together they can be a blessing to each other.

What you wrote is like poetry, a terrible and lonely sigh. My prayer for you will feel those who care around you and you will have the fellowship that you seek.

Have fun at the gun show. You and those who have compassion for are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for your concern and suggestions.

I did try to link with several local groups while prepping, but all had age restrictions...their loss I am stronger and more experienced than many young women!

Family are far away and friends are stuck in the normalcy factor thinking and only prepare for a short storm related event. Local conservative groups meet and talk, and talk, but the information and friendship is very welcome!

Most days are happy and I am very lucky to be well and able to provide and care for myself!

I hope you are well and happy too!

For what it is worth, I noticed that the mainstream news is referring to this issue as “the ebola scare”, insinuating that the fear and hype is more dangerous than the actual possibility of a pandemic. I notice things.

We're a step away from our 'leaders' lying to us 'for our own good' in order to maintain control of the meme.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Decameron

from the link... Thanks for sharing Ruy Dias... interesting stuff..

“In Italy during the time of the Black Death, a group of seven young women and three young men flee from plague-ridden Florence to a deserted villa in the countryside of Fiesole for two weeks. To pass the evenings, every member of the party tells a story each night, except for one day per week for chores, and the holy days in which they do no work at all, resulting in ten nights of storytelling over the course of two weeks. Thus, by the end of the fortnight they have told 100 stories.”

“Each of the ten characters is charged as King or Queen of the company for one of the ten days in turn. This charge extends to choosing the theme of the stories for that day, and all but two days have topics assigned: examples of the power of fortune; examples of the power of human will; love tales that end tragically; love tales that end happily; clever replies that save the speaker; tricks that women play on men; tricks that people play on each other in general; examples of virtue.”
