In an effort to make classrooms more gender-inclusive, teachers at a middle school in Lincoln, Nebraska were given teaching guidelines advising them not to use "gendered expressions" by calling students "boys and girls."
The Lincoln Journal Star reports that the teachers have been advised to use more gender-neutral expressions like campers, readers, athletes or even purple penguins.
The teaching handout called "12 easy steps on the way to gender inclusiveness" advised teachers to avoid separating students by gender, but instead by birth dates or preferences. For example, they could ask students whether they prefer skateboards or bikes, milk or juice, dogs or cats, summer or winter.
Teachers could also "Create classroom names and then ask all of the 'purple penguins' to meet at the rug,' the handout said.
Step 1 of the handout reads, "Always ask yourself, 'Will this configuration create a gendered space?'"
Lincoln Superintendent Steve Joel told KLIN Radio's Drive Time Lincoln show that he was "pleased" with the training materials because the school district wants all children to be successful and not be afraid to go to school.
Joel said in a rapidly growing, diverse school district with 39,000 students — 30 percent of them "children of color," 43 percent living in poverty and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students throughout — the school district can't say "we need kids to look like this, or act like this or talk like this."

Gender inclusive is all about creating Transgender bias when boys and girls are in their vulnerable years. I wish homosexualswould go back to their closets and get out of ours.

You are correct. If the instructors do not know that their students are boys and girls, then the instructors should be fired immediately. Parents need to start educating their own children.
It’s amazing (& unnerving) to me that this is happening in Lincoln, Nebraska of all places. Would expect this foolishness to emerge in Seattle, San Francisco or Cambridge, MA.
You will no longer be allowed to say “It’s a boy or it’s a girl. From now on you will say “It’s an it.”
