This week’s sales circular shows 12 oz of store brand bacon is $3.50. That’s too high for this household’s budget.

After the terrible drought 3-4 years ago when the cattle ranchers had to sell off their stock, prices should have dropped. They didn’t. They rose. Now that most cattle ranches have built their stock back up, prices are still skyrocketing. The cheapest 70% ground beef is $3.60 in the 5 lb tube. They don’t sell the 10 lb. tube anymore. In fact, the large economy size containers of everything is no longer being sold here. The cheap off brands aren’t on the shelves, either.

food and other prices seem to have risen across the board and I don’t think the ranchers or anyone have anything to do with it. I think it is the dollar being worth less and less.
