Help! 'Puter Help Needed

Can someone please help out a technology-challenged damsel -- okay, old lady -- in distress?

A few days ago, while posting a comment, I apparently made some errant keystrokes, which resulted in blowing up the fonts on every FR page that I go to. The display is so large that I am required to scroll left to right in order to post this, as I cannot see the entire text box at once!

This problem is only on FR and not on any other website that I visit. I have looked all over the site, and I have sent private messages to FReepers who seem to have tech knowledge, but I have not gotten any answers.

Thanks, in advance, for any help.

If you’re using IE go to the bottom of your browser on the right side. There should be a text size adjustment slider there. Just slide it to 100% and it should work. If not IE look for a text size function in options somewhere.

In Firefox go to View>Zoom>Zoom out or reset.
In IE, go to View>Zoom>100%
That should fix things.

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer, go to the lower right hand side of the window for the browser. There “should be” a magnifying glass with a magnification factor percentage there. click that and reset it to 100% (or something that fits your screen.

If that isn’t it, please tell us what internet browser you are using.

If you’re using either Firefox or Google Chrome for browsers, hit “Ctrl+” and “Ctrl -” to make the displayed fonts larger and smaller, respectively. (That’s the Control key simultaneously with either the “+” or “-”)

This is a great little program for us ‘seasoned citizens’, you can adjust text size and zoom for any individual website.

Years ago, I was out working a job that had me working 6-7 days a week, 13-16 hours a day. I had no TV until my brother visited and wanted to watch golf, so I went to the local Mom and Pop appliance store and bought an outrageously expensive 42" (which was huge at the time) HD television set. With the stand it sat on, it cost me close to $4000. I rarely used it other than to watch things that I had available to watch "On Demand" through the cable company and a Play Station 2 game I liked... but I did hook up my 'puter to the HDMI. THAT ROCKED!

I got extension cords for the keyboard and mouse and I could sit 12 feet away in a Laz-Z-Boy recliner and surf the web with no eye strain problems whatsoever. I loved to bring up the National Weather Service's High Resolution National Composite Radar map animation... it was like being at the airport with their public information displays! Hahaha!

You're a brave soul. Reaching out to this bunch for computer help.

On the other hand, these tend to be fun threads.

Sorry wrong solution. It would still be proportional with even bigger A’s and Z’s. Any self respecting lady should know about proportional.

Heh...we recently bought a 50” Smart TV, but wifey and I are both scared to do anything with it other than watch the Duggars or Duck people - so we haven’t even attempted to get that and this desktop PC coordinated, even though they sit 2 feet apart in our little ‘media room’.

If your modern computer has an HDMI output, a 3-feet cord oughta about do it.
