Well, I make the pussy purr with the stroke of my hand
They know they gettin’ it from me
They know just where to go when they need their lovin’ man
They know I’m doin’ it for free
I give them cat scratch fever
Cat scratch fever
They got a bad scratch fever
The cat scratch fever

One of my cats gets stressed with incorrect petting. My dear, sweet husband ends up with her on his lap often as he watches television. He’ll make the mistake of petting her over and over again in the same place because he is engrossed in a show.
She touches the incorrect petter with her teeth to give you a hint that she is gearing up to rip your hand off.

Well DUH, when cats want you to stop petting them, they go somewhere else.
My cat has a special table where I comb him
he INSISTS upon being combed, petted, stroked at least once a day or two or three or four times. When he’s had enough, he jumps down. DUH

Sounds more like childless, never-married, women who hate men telling families how to raise their children (i.e., never spank...just negotiate with your 2 year old).
They can all go to hell.

Don’t pet your cat, it will learn to love you instead of big government.

my cat comes to me when I sit at the computer desk. She lies down and scratches her face on a ceramic tile that I have glued just over the edge of the desk. I pet her and she is free to leave whenever she wishes....she usually lasts about 15 minutes or so, but it is up to her and NO, she is not under stress.

SOME cats. Not any we have had. If a cat wants down or not be touched, believe me, they let you know.

When my kitteh comes up to me and head bonks me while purring, I'm pretty sure he likes the attention. I never pet any of my kittehs. They like to get scritched behind the ears, scratched where their tail is and of course, belly rubs when they're on their backs. I'm pretty sure none of my kittehs are stressed at the love I give them, they always come back for more so either they are masochists or they like it. How much for this 'survey'?

Being held or stroked for too long can be very stressful for some cats.Don't we all already know this? I but only have to breathe wrong on my Calico (who came onto MY lap on her own!) and she is apt to try to nip at me or take a swipe at me.....Catitude!
