From the album, "20th Century Blues", by Robin Trower.
This is one of the most haunting and beautiful electric guitar tracks that you will ever hear. Not at all what some might expect from this old master of heavy metal rock.
Click on the play button in the video screen to listen.
This reminds me of another classic - Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Riviera Paradise.”
Same here, but Trower done aged big time from back in the day.
Hadn't seem him in a long time.
Oh, "Day of the Eagle" ain't half bad either.
Funny.....I just clicked on the link at the top of the thread, opened it in a new tab, and the page came up with no problem.
Scroll down to the player, and hit the little yellow forward button in the player bar above the video, and oila'.
There it is.
Sorry for any troubles. The player is working fine for me.
Absolutely!
It's one of the best live albums ever recorded.
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Lovely.... thank you.
When I recently went to YouTube, I couldn't find a link to the studio version. Thank goodness I captured it while I still could!
what an amazing way to end the day
thx
I've listened to this tune over a hundred times, and I'm still blown away!
Haven't we all!
RT has still got the the vibe, though. I can't believe he wrote something so incredible at this late stage of his career.
thx
You're most welcome!
I can’t get the video to play on the page you linked. I get “Watch this video on YouTube. Playback on other websites has been disabled by the owner.”
Too bad the studio version isn’t there. :-(
Scroll down to the video player window. Look just above that, and see a dark colored bar with yellow colored control tabs. Click on the forward key and you'll hear the studio version.
Man, I wish JohnRob would insert the code to enable instant display/play of video on this site. Would make these kinds of threads just rip along.
Saw the Trower at Fillmore West in 2011; he’s still got it!
Used to sit in my old yellow Buick 8-track’n Bridge of Sighs
album with a quart of Mickey’s...
those were the college daze.
Oh yeah, I have this. Awesome track.
Thanks! Saved the mp3.
Well duh. I saw that bar before but didn’t recognize it as the mp3 player. Got it playing now. Thanks! Live was good but this is sweeeeeeeeet.
Eminently so. Even better than he was in the 70's.
Listen to all of the tones going on in this song. Not only are they the most luscious harmonies any of us have ever heard, they're soulful beyond anything he's ever done before, and the individual riffs and note plays are just painfully exquisite.
When I first heard it, I thought the pace was dreadfully slow, but the more I listen to it, the more I realize that Robin did that on purpose to give the music enough space to breath. Without all that space between notes, it's not possible to truly appreciate the emotive twists of the song.
In fact, now that I hear it in sync with his artistic vision, it almost sounds too fast to contain everythin he crammed into it.
Ain't it though? It's like a 21st century distillation of the very best of the blues. I've really got to find the album somewhere so I can put my money where my ears are.
You betcha!
I hear the very best of 20th century blues in this song, don't you?
