“The scientifically ignorant ones whining for more government. “

That would be you. Our food is more than just calories.

The claims are factual and your ignorance is not my problem.

Which segment of DNA in your food makes you cry?

Boy that was scientific. You must be a great thinker with deep insights that will change the world.

Yes, your infantile arguments and insults are bound to change minds and win hearts.

or not

I see you are using the NewSpeak definition of GMO which is not even the Monsanto definition.

Ok, grab a brain and try and stay with me. Every single agricultural product out there is GMO. This is a fact and only a moron would try to dispute it. In other words, every single ag product we have access to is a genetically modified organism.

It doesn't matter if it has been genetically modified through selective breeding, hybridization, or via a gene gun. This makes absolutely no difference. The end product is a genetically modified organism (GMO).

In the past, with selective breeding and hybridization, we would throw things together in a random fashion and then hope for the best. It was time consuming, and in most cases, we didn't get what we'd hoped for. Even when we did, there were no tests run to determine whether or not this new product was safe. Today, instead of using the old technology, we determine what traits we want to add or subtract, and then do it without screwing with the other genes. That way, we get exactly what we wanted in a very short period of time..... and we get it without potentially messing up the remaining genetic structures and avoid creating something that might actually be harmful to humans.

There are only the old methods of genetically modifying plants or animals and new methods of genetically modifying plants or animals. Both methods will deliver a genetically modified organism. Allow me to also add that taking genetic code from non-related organisms and splicing it together has been done by nature since forever. Yes, it happens all the time. If nature can do this without you getting you all clenched up, why can't humans?

Those are the facts, and they are undisputed.....except by scientific illiterates who don't know the first thing about biological science. I don't understand why you guys are so eager to advertise the fact that you learned less in all of your education than most kids have by time they enter the 7th grade.

You should be embarrassed.

Are you aware that repeating falsehoods and obfuscations does not make them true? My guess is that you are.

Insults, ridicule, and language games are used by someone who lacks facts. The same tactics are used by progressives and collectivists in attempts to intimated ‘heretics’ who do not agree with them.

In case you missed it, I repeat that the so called safety of GMO’s is based upon a ‘consensus’, just like man made global warming is based upon a ‘consensus’.

Just like proponents of man made global warming ridicule, insult, denigrate, those labeled ‘deniers’, so GMO producers, their paid shills, fanatics, and useful idiots ridicule, insult, and denigrate those who dare to question the safety of GMO’s. These are not the actions of a conservative, or believer in free speech.

Just like it is impossible to have an adult conservation about natural law with someone who believes in moral equivalence it is impossible to have a conservation with someone who makes up their own definition of GMO’s and their safety.

Your claim of danger is also based on consensus , is it not? Can you prove that absolutely every time it causes problems?

Is GMO perfect, HELL NO. But right now we have the safest, most abundant, economical, nutritious food system ever in history. There is a future coming where you will long for what we have today.

People with full stomachs have much to complain about, those that are hungry don’t give a damn whether it is GMO or not.

It is soon enough that we will have food shortages and that has not been experienced in our generation.

Now as for what a conservative position is. Ideology is not a conservative position. We understand the nature of man and history. The market place which I assume we both respect has decided it would rather have cheap abundant food rather than expensive perfect food.

I would also point out that your position is what you don’t want. You don’t want GMO. Do you understand what the world food supply would be now if we didn’t have it. But of course if we lived in a world with food shortages, you wouldn’t want that and would beg for GMO, and hate big business for holding it back from the market.

Smoking doesn’t cause cancer for every single person. Does that mean smoking isn’t dangerous?

So why do they want to mix animal DNA with plant DNA? Why are they trying to force animal cloning?

Why are they shipping chickens to China for processing so they can ship back to the US.

Now the ‘good cop’ speaketh lacing their comments with lots assumptions and inferences.

Why is it that questioning the safety of GMO’s, questioning the wisdom of turning control of our food supply over to a global corporation, questioning if something other than lack of access to GMO’s is the cause of food shortages, questioning why Monsanto spends many $$$ preventing consumers from getting information on the presence of GMO’s in food is treated with ridicule, all bring out the inner collectivist in many ???

Why is it that questioning.......................

Because you are an idealist. you don have the big picture as I explained to you.

You can tell me in GREAT DETAIL what you don’t want but don’t know what you want.

You happen to live in a time of cheap, abundant food and complain with your mouth full.

So I assume you want expensive, limited, perfect food. That is what you are arguing for. As I said often. the REAL issue is centralization of power, yet constantly conservatives here think that govt is the answer to all their problems. You want perfect food, go buy and support organic food. Have you done that? No, I suspect not, you sit here and complain about what you don’t want.

“I want a label on my food.” “I want the govt to solve my problems.” This is the cry of too many conservatives here.

“I assume ...” “I suspect ...” “You don’t want ...”

Lots of assuming, putting words in my mouth, and repetition of your assertions.

You make me laugh sometimes. I wish I could count the number of times you insult people, call them Luddites, tell them to get a brain, talk down to them, etc. Kind of funny watching you make fun of other people. Especially people that aren’t quite as smart as you. Personally I don’t get a kick out of telling people how stupid they are. I am not a Chemist. I don’t go home and memorize the Periodic Table of Elements. Talk about absorption rates with my family at the dinner table. I’m just a Luddite who will admit when I’m wrong and let other people have their own opinion and not chastise them even if they are wrong. But I digress.

Let’s look at clothes. Clothes are marked “Made in (Whatever country the clothes are made)” I don’t know about you but I’m not keen on children being forced to work in clothing plants in foreign countries. I like keeping my dollar here in the US if possible. However, if there were no tags saying Made in XXXXXXX, I would never know that child labor rights might have been abused to make the clothes I buy. In that same regard, why should I have to worry about whether a product has GMO ingredients?

Dupont and Monsanto can sell GMO seeds all day and I could care less. The way I see it, if it’s such a great process, tell the world about it. Shout it from the rooftops. Brag about it. I can’t understand why a Nobel Prize winning process is kept under wraps. You don’t see many parents of Honor students not telling about their son or daughter’s success. Instead you see them brag about their kids. Monsanto should do the same don’t you think? Tell the people that the product is eating is available because of GMO’s. Those that don’t care whether the product contains GMO’s can buy it to their heart’s content. Others who don’t care for GMO’s can make that decision for themselves. It’s just three little letters.

Let me try one more time with you.

We had the best health care system in the world but it wasn’t perfect for some. They complained and pretty soon the government listened and decided to fix it. What do we have now?

We have the best food system in history and the world and all you do is complain because it is not PERFECT. You have choices, abundant choices and have not even thought about the possibility of going hungry.

Get off you ass and go buy the food you want. It is available to you. The system is working. The capitalistic system is working for you. Your call for govt solutions will NOT get you what you want.

Yes I am repeating because you don’t understand. It is evident.
