Lol...not all Black people are dumb like what we see on the media or in popular music. They make the wrong choices in life as far as beliefs, just like any human. I’ve been schooled in the proper way to say “breakfast” from a Black waitress. Being from Texas it’s always been “Brake-fust”...I was told (in a friendly way) it’s pronounced “brek-fast”.

97% of the black people I have ever known have spoken proper English. Of course they all have jobs. Go figure!
Always wondered how to speil that...
One day as I was sitting outside of a hospital. I saw two nicely dressed (jogging attire and good shoes) black men strike up a conversation. At first it was all “ebonics” but when they learned that one was a lawyer and the other an account it swiftly changed to “good” English.
It was astonishing to me that bad English is what each expected of the other and they didn’t want to speak down to the other.
I worked with a black woman that used two different languages and every once in a while, she wold break out in ghetto.
Whenever this subject comes up, I always ask,
“Have you ever heard a REAL black African (recent) immigrant speak English? Let alone a domestic multi-lingual African speaking English?”
The answer is almost always “yes”. I then ask the obvious follow-up question:
“Do they sound ANYTHING like cliche’ urban ‘African-American’ blacks when they speak English?”
You all know the answer (it’s usually silence from the party with which I’m speaking).
(don’t get me going on Jamaican blacks...let alone ‘white-ghetto’)
Even HR CLINTON has been known to go ‘ghetto’ in speeches too certain crowds.

I like this young woman. She will do well. Thoughtful, well reasoned and bravely stated
most “street talk” I hear sounds like baby talk.
