I say it’s because parents have been trying to put their babies into ‘plastic bubbles’ and tried to limit exposure to germs.

I never heard about such allergies, now every third kid has some food malady.
Sure seems like it doesn't it? Lots of stuff going on with our kids these days that never occured when we were growing up............
Sounds like your typical unintended consequences...........
