Pizza Hut Testing 'Skinny Slice'

Pizza Hut is testing out a lighter pizza in two U.S. markets as it seeks to freshen up its menu and regain its footing against competitors.

The tests of the "Skinny Slice" pies began this week at several dozen restaurants in Toledo, Ohio, and West Palm Beach, Florida. The pies simply use less of the same dough used for regular pies and are lighter on the toppings, said Doug Terfehr, a Pizza Hut spokesman.

A “Skinny Slice” is a 1/16th sector of the pie instead of a 1/8th sector of the pie.

I like Papa Murphy’s veggie delight and chicken, bacon, artichoke delight. Both are thin crust and tasty.

I really don’t think anyone can make a healthy pizza that tastes like anything anyone would want to eat. But I hope PizzaHut succeeds, as so very many people need to lose weight.

I live in New Hampshire. Some time after WWII, a Greek guy moved here and started making pizza his way. Thick spongy crust, canned sauce, greasy cheese and salty pepperoni was what he made. He trained his relatives who then opened their own places.

Now, every local pizza place is owned by a Greek who makes the same awful pizza as his progenitor. Here, Pizza Hut and the other chains are better than the local places. The real tragic side of this story is that the populace has become accustomed to the bad pizza. If somebody opens a place that makes real Italian pizza with fresh sauce, nobody goes there.

I have to go to one or two places in Mass. or better yet, 130 miles to Providence, RI to get real pizza.

gee, what’s wrong with eating 1/2 less.

You and I can do that but food can be addictive to some people.

My neighbor is grossly overweight; her friend told me a few days ago that while most people eat a slice or two of pizza, the fat lady eats the entire thing. Perhaps her trip to the emergency room yesterday with painful diverticulosis might help change her habits. But I doubt it.

food addiction is harder to get over than alcohol or drug addiction, as you cannot just give up food. It's a daily fight, meal by meal, snack by snack. Hopefully "lite" pizza will help…but does lite beer help alcoholics quit drinking?

..... cook it in my crappy non-pizza oven using my electricity and pay you the same as I would for a cooked pizza.

Ahh, there's the rub.
A family size pizza w/ just about everything.. $13.( and there is coupons in the paper for $2 off often)
Get it on the way home from work, cook it later, serve nice and hot.
Yes, we use them for pizza.

If you want a skinny slice with less crust and toppings, just order a small pizza cut into more slices.

College kid orders a delivery pizza. Clerk ask if he wants it cut into eight or ten slices. College kid says "Cut it into eight slices. I don't think I can eat ten slices".
