A suspected case of mistaken identity has left a 32-year-old man dead during a night-time romantic encounter in a Northeast Philadelphia apartment this week. Marc Carrion was shot in the head inside a unit at the Holme Circle Apartments Monday night after police say the man who lived there found the victim hiding in his daughter's bedroom. Carrion was rushed to Aria Health Torresdale Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday morning. nvestigators believe Charles Jordan, 41, opened fire on Carrion because he took him for an intruder, but those who knew the 32-year-old claim the man had been invited into the house by Jordan's 20-year-old daughter, reported the Philadelphia Daily News.

Well we were raised different from this young woman. I was not living with my parents when I was 20. If I had been, I never would have had the man in my room.

When my sister became engaged her husband did live in our house for a time before the wedding. BUT! He had to sleep in my little brother's room. Little brother never stayed bribed, so it was a safe bet the BIL could not sneak into my sister's room.

Anybody notice the comment from Sally below the article?

“I know these people. Brenda is always getting into fights. The dad is a really nice, hardworking guy. And they live in a really bad area. What a sad story.”

If he was molesting the dead daughter’s corpse, he probably deserved to be shot.

How long after she died did the guy break in to the house?

“Father discovers a stranger crouching in the bedroom of his daughter in the dark of night.- what would YOU do, invite him for a beer conference?”

Turn on the light and ask the daughter “Do you know this guy?”, while keeping my gun on the unknown person.

Especially since, according to the headline, she is dead.

"...he had been working hard to rebuild his life."

Third time this has been used in describing the shootee (I hesitate to use the word victim).

I don't know who is going to hit this hardest, the race baiters or the anti-gun freaks.

“He WAS an INTRUDER.”

If you’re invited into a home by an adult resident of that home, you’re not an intruder. The father may have had no way of knowing that, but we do.

true.... i find the entire situation ridiculous... he was 32, she is 20... they are adults... why in the world was he in her room secretly? why couldn’t they meet at his place? or does he too live with his parents? why didn’t he just get a room for the two of them for the night? doesn’t her bedroom door have a lock? why didn’t she lock it? or did she open the door for her father? a 32-year old crouching in a corner is ridiculous...

Sure we do, as we are the ones discussing the case here. You can’t simply assert “he was an intruder” when we all can see that is factually false.

You could say “the father thought he was an intruder” and that would be fine, but to say “he was an intruder” is a demonstrably false statement.

Always reread your headlines was the first thing I was taught about headlines and cutlines.

This is mild in comparison to “Judge and Mrs. Johnson announce their daughter’s brothel”, or for a general officer’s retirement, “VIPs See General Jack Off”, both from many years ago in the linotype/block page days.

I’m not gonna go and open fire just because I hear someone walking in the middle of the night.

Last month there was this thread about a sheriff's deputy who shot his own teen daughter walking into his darkened garage. I had a running argument with this jerk freeper DoughtyOne who said it was the daughter's fault she got shot, and he would blast away at a shadowy figure in his garage or house. He insulted me and called me names, because I said "know your target". And I listed examples of people confronting intruders and not shooting them, where the intruder turns out to be a child or their own kin. He insulted me by saying if I didn't shoot a shadowy figure then I would die. I have guns, and kids in the house. Even if I identify an intruder I am not going to automatically blast away, unless physically threatened. Best way to avoid jail and civil lawsuits. And possibly grief from shooting the wrong person. Gungrabbers accuse all of us of being trigger-happy, I hope most freepers are not.

If you’re invited into a home by an adult resident of that home, you’re not an intruder.

Sh*t happens. A very, very long time ago when I was a teen, this nympho girl enticed me into her home and came onto me, you might say she molested me. We were double-dating, my date and her date needed to be home early. As it was still early, this gal asks my girlfriend if I could go to her house for coffee and chatting. My girlfriend says sure, as the other gal had been going steady with her boyfriend for a year and we all trusted one another. Once in her home, she came on to me, and I protested heavily. Keep in mind she was a beautiful tall, leggy, blond and she was eager. We ended up in her bedroom, then she heard her parents arriving home and yelled at me to get out. Went out the back window, and made a quick exit. In school the next week, I confided with a friend on what happened. He said "You too?". Apparently this nympho was doing lots of guys behind her boyfriend's back. Any one of us could have been a victim of a vindictive father if caught!
