Though he was nine years older, Frank Torre, who broke into the majors with the Milwaukee Braves in 1956, served as a mentor to his younger brother growing up on Avenue T in Brooklyn, and later as a father figure after their parents split up.

Yes and he was at spring training in st Petersburg in 1969 as cardinal pitching coach when I worked the cardinal camp.

My mother was one of 7 sisters. One died of cancer in her 40s,the other six died in their 90s,one 2 months shy of her 100th birthday.
My mother happened to be the youngest and I used to kid her,saying,”What’s it like to be 88 and have 5 big sisters?”.

Henry Aaron, Tommy Aaron, Joe Torre, Teo James, Joe Adcock, and Lew Burdette all played for the Eau Claire Braves in the sixties. Saw ‘em with my own eyes!

One of the funny things is that a guy who sits in front of my season ticket seats regularly wears a “H Aaron” jersey from the years when Hank Aaron and his brother Tommie both played for the Milwaukee Braves.
Adcock at first, Torre at third is the way I remember it.
