I was being sarcastic in that post but you raise an interesting position.

Should someone having an affair mention it to their spouse or keep quiet to spare their spouse's feelings?

If one was so concerned about their spouse’s feelings, they wouldn’t have had an affair in the first place.

I’d rather be slapped with the truth than kissed with a lie.

That person should own up to the truth. By not telling the truth, the cheater is only protecting himself/herself.
