Politics is one of the tools (not the only one) by which people, individually or in groups, attempt to get the most of what they value. A gets B because A wants it and has the power to obtain it. Everything else is detail. Will plus power. Because he can. It has NEVER been because he should. (short of divine intervention).
Candidate A gets elected because he wants to be, and because he can
Homosexuals get same-sex marriage because they want it, and because they can
Politicians get legislation passed because they want to, and because they can
Professors bully their students into silence because they want to, and because they can
Police intimidate citizens because they want to, and because they can
The Supreme Court overrules the vote of the people because they want to, and because they can
There is a reasonableness in this. Nature favors those willing to expend time, energy and resources obtaining what they want. This encourages the virtues of planning, industriousness, loyalty, commitment, ingenuity, foresightedness, etc. If the opposition is not willing to make the same sacrifice, is it a mystery that they are unsuccessful? Anyone uncertain about what they want, or unwilling to muster the forces necessary, is not likely to be successful, even if the cause is right. They lack the means but, more importantly, they lack the WILL. The opposition does not win because their cause is right, but because they are not opposed by a sufficient will.
These are timeless principals, thoroughly covered in the classics, studied for centuries, understood instinctively. So why are so many people surprised when they lose their battles? Instead of asking how did we underestimate our enemy or how were we unprepared there is wailing against the liberal establishment or the Godless and corrupt world.
Does anyone else perceive this as unproductive? And emotional?

DUH!....................
I like the premise.
Do you know an emo is?
Conservatism is hard because it contains within itself something of a contradiction. Perhaps not as impossible as proving a negative, but working within the political system to achieve a system of limited government, is certainly no simple task.
What does that even mean?
If conservatives are guilty of anything, its missing the small but important battles.
We don’t win when we skip votes on lesser races like board of education, democrats don’t even have to try when we hand those races to them without a fight. Homeschooling or private schooling is great but its no excuse to retreat from the fight.
The same can be said for the culture war. Retreating is not winning, retreating is willfully losing. Its not hard to support good art, movies, TV, or music. When we support what is good, producers and studios notice.
"Emo"? No. Frustrated, yes.
What is “Emo?”
Is that the poster?
Liberals are the emotional ones. They don’t think, they ‘feeeeeeeeel’.
My dad was a college professor. WWII vet, as were many of his colleagues.
Late ‘70s, early ‘80s is when I saw things change in the academic world. I didn’t want to be part of it.
It's possible to get rid of all the liberals from one of the major parties. (hint: you can't get rid of the liberals from the dem party)

Yes. I’m pretty frustrated with people who talk much, and appear to do little.
NO — that’s not a picture of the poster. LOL.
And I used the word “emo” in it’s original sense of “emotional”
I think if everyone did that, there would be a HUGE change in our political climate. But the thing I find frustrating is that they don’t, and then wonder why things don’t change. This has been bothering me a lot, hence the post.
One more liberal republican gone.
And one with national aspirations.
It's a lot of work, knocking on doors, burning shoe leather, making calls. And you also get attacked by republicans because you won't vote for, and work against their liberal candidates.

what the hell is emo?
