A New York teenager who took a test drive in a family friends Lamborghini has died after crashing the high-powered sports car into a guardrail.
Samuel Shepard, 18, of Mount Sinai, Long Island was taking the car for a spin on a local county road early on Friday when he lost control.
He was driving north in Mount Sinai at 2:25 a.m. in the 2010 Lamborghini which can cost anywhere between $200,000 and $300,000 second hand and slammed into a guardrail near Route 25A, police said.

Certainly can’t be driver error.
Alright this might match the stupidity of the instructor who gave the girl an Uzi, possibly exceed it.
Well, bye.
“....his dad Gene said that Lamborghinis were his son’s favorite car”
.
I’d be satisfied if I could find my 1966 MGB back.
I don’t lend my car and it’s just a little Nissan.
I always thank God whenever an idiot kills himself. Not only does it give a stern warning to other idiots about consequences, it also means that my tax dollars won’t have to go towards his recovery. Since we don’t know the entire story of whether or not the passenger consented to the teenager’s reckless behavior, it’s probably a good thing the passenger lived.
Cup ‘o’ noodles?
And everyone is going to call this a ‘tragic accident’, when in reality it is an act of ‘reckless endangerment’ that should be prosecuted as manslaughter.
At 2AM, no less.
That’s like taking Don Garlette’s new rail out for the quarter mile, but never have driven/trained in a funny car. IOW, suicide.
Imho.

I was hoping to read the name ‘Justin Bieber’ somewhere in this article.
At 2:25 a.m. it was more likely "hey Larry, lets take your dad's Lambo for a spin....."
I think a drug test during the autopsy would be in order too......
My sister had an MGB, before I was old enough to drive.
She let me sit in it and start it up, feeling the engine vibrate.
Too many maintenance issues, she got rid of it.
It wasn’t *that* stupid. At least the friend’s father bought him a six-pack of high-alcohol beer to make sure he was relaxed when he drove.
Well, at least it was quick. If some kid crashed my Lambo (as if I had one) and lived, I imagine some slow death by torture would follow.
