Have a look at shyp.com, as an example of a business idea. Discussed here.

Shipping stuff is a PITA. Basically, shyp takes the problem off your hands for $5 plus what it would have cost you to ship the normal way. You don't have to do anything but hand the item over their pickup person. They box it up and ship it. You provide the shipping details via a web app on your smart phone or other device.

They make the $5 plus the difference between what it would cost you to ship and what it costs them to ship (they get lower rates because of their volume). They have a machine that makes boxes just the right size for a given item.

Now, of course, the question is, would this idea work in China (it remains to be seen if it really works in the US)? That's your department!

I should add that I live in the Philippines, and lots of people here import stuff from China.

Our family sells organic rice, and our son has looked into exporting our brand to Korea, but the paperwork was complicated, and then we lost last years crop to the typhoon so we decided to diversify into organic vegetables instead, since we found restaurants in Manila would buy it.

When we were planning to export, our vice president in charge of production (daughter in law) started to attend some trade fairs and local business associations to learn the business.

If you make small items, ebay and alibaba will sell them for you, but you won't make a lot of money. Network by going to meetings of trade associations, and ask with friends and family to find someone with experience is the best way to start.

It used to be that you could have your own business by simply declaring that you were in business.

I have seen items being sold from China, but the shipping is very expensive.

Do you understand that the original poster is actually IN China?

of course...it was all there in the original 2-sentence vanity. oh...wait.

Geez...dial it back a notch, will ya? Did you also send rude replies to whoever put in 'vikingkittenchow' as a keyword? or those who wanted to be an astronaut? (which made me LOL, btw. The one about the Texas Roadhouse was classic.)

Anyhoo, I also wished him well and said FR has some of the best people on the planet and he would no doubt get some good ideas. Have a good Friday.

CB - sorry if I offended with my rush-to-judgment. Lesson learned. I really do wish you well...it’s a tough world out there these days. Regards, ZG.

Artistic handicrafts are, in general, a specialty market with limited appeal best sold directly to the consumer on a platform such as Amazon or eBay.

However, if you think you have something with wide appeal and a importer or wholesaler might be in your picture, then Freepmail me with a link and details for a further look.

You aren’t still in China? Where are you? We can help you better if we know where you live now.
