Joan Rivers is in critical condition after she stopped breathing during a medical procedure on Thursday, police sources tell The Post.
The E! Fashion critic, 81, was a patient at Yorkville Endoscopy on East 93rd street near Third Avenue in New York City, police sources told The Post.
After she stopped breathing, a 911 call was placed at around 9:40 a.m.
TMZ reports the caller said, “We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest.”
She was reportedly rushed to Mount Sinai hospital.

You need not fear a colonoscopy. It may save your life. Last summer my next door neighbor had a colonoscopy and they found cancer, removed the CA and she’s 100% fine.
She would have died from colon cancer, if she took your point of view.
Anesthesiologists do not need to call 911. This is what they do for a living.

I don’t know but if you have endoscopy procedure and don’t have one you’ll regret it. I know because I had one done without anesthesia one time with only a throat numbing.

She has been upgraded to Stable Condition but according to some family sources, she is stable but NOT conscious and that things are “Not looking good” they are waiting for her daughter Melissa to arrive(She flew to New York from LA) my mom was just watching Fashion Police a few days ago prayers that she will pull through this she is a tough ol broad
Joan Rivers was having throat surgery done, nothing to do with an endoscopy. My Mom had an endoscopy done two weeks ago, awake, she refuses to ever be sedated(She fears the sedative more than anything else) and on Monday had a Colonoscopy done..there are always risks, either sedated or not sedated that is why they make you sign the form

Joan probably is conservative compared to most celebrities, but she hates Sarah Palin for some reason. I think she supported Reagan.
She has said some nasty things about the Palin family in the past but I think after they did that Wife Swap show(Bristol and Melissa switching roles) I think Joan saw the Palin family in a new light

I am assuming your Mom had her colonoscopy without sedation, as well. It is my view that the sedation in almost any procedure is the thing to fear, especially when you have to be intubated. As for me, I will choose local every time over any kind of other sedation if I have a choice at all. My husband had a heart attack as he was being anesthetized for a surgery several years ago. He survived but had a stent placed immediately. I hope Joan will pull out of this. It sounds very serious. There are some very cruel people over at TMZ making unbelievable comments about Joan. I am assuming they are TMZ fans..I just hope they are not representative of the left-wing youth in this country.

My dear husband had colon cancer, which was barely caught in time 20 years ago. You’d better believe he has regular colonoscopies now.
AAMOF, I had both and endoscopy and a colonoscopy on the same day once. Only downside was that the protoferol had me singing prior to the procedure — for real.
Yes, my mom does every procedure without sedation..any procedure she can do without sedation if she can help it she will do it..because she fears the sedation more than the actual procedure. She will just take it, endoscopy hardly anyone does awake but she does because when my grandfather had colon cancer surgery many many years ago, when he woke up his brain was never the same so my Mom doesn’t want to take any chances that will happen to her..because sometimes with Anesthesia, when your an older person, it can mess up your brain
It depends on the hospital(Or clinic) I know that Kaiser does Profofol on certain days, and other days they just do the standard sedation..some doctors love Profofol because the second they remove the IV you wake up and you can leave the clinic faster..under regular sedation it can take an hour to wear off so your basically stuck there til your given the all clear to leave
