Why Government Researchers Think We May Be Living in a 2D Hologram
http://motherboard.vice.com/ ^ | 4-26-2014 | JASON KOEBLER

Operating with cutting-edge technology out of a trailer in rural Illinois, government researchers started today on a set of experiments that they say will help them determine whether or not you and me and everything that exists are living in a two-dimensional holographic universe.

It sounds completely off-the-walls insane, but the incongruities between Albert Einstein's theory of relativity and some of Max Planck's discoveries about the nature of matter can only be explained if we're living in a Matrix-style holographic illusion, according to Craig Hogan, director of the Department of Energy's Fermilab Center for Particle Astrophysics.

.....

If so, that would mean that the "real world is the ultimate 4-dimensional video display." In the paper, he says his team's hypothesis is that space and time are created from tiny bits of information that vary and that the relationship between space and time are created using information processing.

Does this mean I need a new supercomputer?

No, it means that you are a supercomputer.

Now that they’ve determined the results it’s time to make the facts to prove it and get that funding for more research in Tahiti.

Scripture clearly communicates that we live in a spiritual world that cannot be seen or known by the 5 senses, and occasionally God gives glimpses into that world. II Kings 6:16,17. But most of us know it’s there.

C. S. Lewis and others have suggested that there actually may be 5 or more dimensions to reality.

NOTE: For Christians to say they can “feel” God’s presence, I believe that to be not true most of the time. God is spirit said Jesus, and spirit cannot be sensed by the 5 senses. Much of what is attributed as being feeling God’s presence is nothing more than man’s feelings which are never a reliable source of information for anything. Feelings always are a result of something. One cannot “feel” God’s presence any more than one can taste it or see it.

That’s not to say God cannot be sensed - but it is almost always in the Spirit, by the Holy Spirit, and not in the realm of the 5 senses. Unless there is a physically manifest presence as in Acts 2 where it was outwardly seen, known and experienced by all......also in Acts 4 at the end. Another example is I Kings 19:12, 13. God does speak audibly at times.

I notice that scientists talk about "information" a great deal in a number of contexts.

A biologist, for example, might say that "DNA stores and transmits information for the formation and functioning" of an organism.

Or a physicist, as another example, might say that "all information concerning a particle falling into a black hole is preserved at its event horizon."

Scientists bandy about this word "information" all the time, but as far as I can see they never seem to stop and ask themselves exactly what "information" is.

Now, I'm just a simple country lawyer, but through years of legal practice I've developed a pretty good BS detector - especially when another lawyer is avoiding the definition of a word.

Because the thing about "information" is that it has to be meaningful to some mind - else it's nothing. Using the word "information" implies the existence of some Mind.

And that's what many scientists, especially the orthodox Darwinists, blink out of existence. I can only conclude that if science proves anything, it's some Mind that apprehends all of reality. Else, we couldn't talk about "information" at all.

Using the word "information" implies the existence of some Mind.

I'm not a lawyer, and I don't play one on television. I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night. However, to suggest that the word "information" requires a mind is a bit of a stretch. Information is an extension of the word inform, which is to transmit knowledge, but also has a meaning of giving substance or principle to something. It isn't simply knowledge.

Computers use information without regard to the people using them. They act independently, based on information from sensors or other inputs. You might say this is data, not information, but they are synonyms. Take a thermostat, for instance. The temperature of a room is the information, and whether or not to heat or cool is an action that the thermostat takes, based on the information.

Ants walk by each other and transmit information, bees do it with little dances. I don't really consider ants or bees to have minds, even though they have brains.

Incorrect.

Computers use information from sensors in accordance with programs(more information) processed into them at their construction (creation). Without the original information being hardwired into them, the sensory input would be totally meaningless, much less even noticed by the computer.

The ants and the bees have processors hard wired with their original programming, without it they would do nothing at all.

Data and information have definite areas of overlap in meaning/use as descriptors.

This ties in with string theory and the whole issue of dark matter and dark energy.

The universe of matter we perceive may very well be only a part of reality, with additional dimensions we cannot perceive other than, to some extent, by their effects on what we can perceive. The presently most popular variant of string theory, I believe, postulates 11 dimensions, of which we perceive only four.

Or possibly there’s something quite wrong with the present Standard Theory.

“That is, the existence of a hologram at least implies the theory of creation.”

Naw, that hologram just randomly evolved on its own from nothingness to a high level of structure after trillions of years. /sarcasm

Would that mean that Christ was, basically, God’s avatar? And the Holy Spirit a data processing routine that He uses to interact with us.

Wow, this could actually explain the mystery of the Holy Trinity, couldn’t it?

It seems somewhat blasphemous to analogize such as you did...

but it does help our limited minds understand.
Not saying your analogy is right, but it is interesting.
