Isn’t this specific ALS charity using stem cell research?

This was posted by the Archbishop of New Orleans today.

Archbishop Gregory Aymond

There has been quite a stir regarding the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

We have received questions on this project. Many people do not realize that some of the research is done with embryonic stem cells, which is against our Pro-Life stance. However, it is possible to contribute to research that is morally acceptable. Please specify in your donations how your gift should be used. For example, the Steve Gleason Fund provides research that does not use embryonic stem cells. We have many people in the Archdiocese of New Orleans who suffer from ALS, including Fr. Ray Fitzgerald, S.J. and former Saints player, Steve Gleason. Please join me in prayer for all those who suffer from this disease and for their families.

It is possible to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge and to do so in a way that is morally acceptable.

O2

seems they’re all cut from the same cloth.

Once you’re elite, you’re elite I suppose.

Nobody up top seems too interested in taking the country back.

She should have jumped in a big frozen ice pond in Alaska!

Yes, reportedly a part of their money is used for embrionic stem cell research. The ALS website recently did add that use of embrionic stem cells in research has become controversial, but do not say they have subsequently halted funding for it to some extent.

Everything seems to need a pink ribbon insignia, because everything is suspect now, even charities. Conservatives are deep in involvement and never have a clue.

I actually don't think that video does Palin much good. I want serious leaders, with gravitas. I can't imagine Ike or Reagan making such a video, especially how it ended.

And I read on their website, “The incidence of ALS is two per 100,000 people, ... “

What are they going to do with all that money? Yeah, I am sure it’s a good cause but they’ll hit the lotto with this campaign.

I hear you but Palin fills a certain independent niche and can just about do whatever she wants. I thought it was a great video. It’s not like she is ever going to be running for President.

I dunno.

The GOP still to me, remains (wide) open for 2016.

I would still very much support Sarah.

I presume it goes to research and a stipend to administration. Certainly ALS has a marketing genius worth a million, having come up with this Ice Bucket Challenge, and getting wall to wall coverage of it.

The ALS Foundation funds FETAL STEM CELL research. FSC research has never produced one therapy for any condition or disease. But it kills babies, which is the important thing.

I liked watching her repeatedly tugging her tight top down. As she once said, she has the rack.

Mrs. Doomonyou and I did it last night to the glee of daughter of Doomonyou who poured the bucket. The best part of the video was her cackle because she through it was Sooooooo funny. We challenged our two other kids (married) and our Pastor and his wife (They got blasted tonight from a bunch of Yutes (YOUTHS) (/vinne) and are waiting for their vids.) Good cause, we donated.
