One would think the squatters could be charged with trespassing.

Tear gas, flash bangs and every friend/relative he has armed with bats.

Can you imaging if they tried this on people we know? (including ourselves)

Cost of a new door far cheaper than a lawyer and the courts.

Go to the utilities and demand that they shut off the service unless they can provide a valid deed or lease.

if you are the legal owner of the property you are 100% entitled to break your own doors if you want to.

And then everything inside is yours

if they claim they live there while all their stuff is on the lawn then ask them to prove it

Hit them hard and fast. Secure transport and sell them into a slavery ring.

Won’t see them around here no more.

Costly and time consuming eviction, legal process.

Fast track in California would be 60 days. Don’t know about Oregon.

I’m thinking that this kind of thing can happen more now because people don’t get traditional copperwire phones hooked up — they use mobiles, and can even watch tv over the internet — like in our neighborhood, both Starbucks and McDonald’s have free wi-fi. So all they need is electric.

I couldn’t believe the cooa wouldn’t do anything but from the comments it appears that the house was a rental before this person purchased it and probably the previous renters let someone move in. The police are treating them like renters with a signed. Contract, which obviously they are not. I would break in a window and start moving their stuff onto the lawn. It wouldn’t be breaking and entering since it is my house.

You only think you own your house. You don’t really. You just pay for upkeep, insurance and taxes.
If someone wants to waltz in and take what is “rightfully” theirs, well they can and will.
Of course, if they get hurt on “your” property, you will be held responsible.

I don’t get it: clearly a felony larceny, trespass, break and enter, w/intent misdemeanor.....what gives? I’d lock all of ‘em up, forthwith, when the owner shows me the deed. Probable cause up the wazoo!

I never hear these occupy stories coming out of Texas. We have a castle rule, so if I show up at my own home, find it locked and occupied, then I give each and every one of them a welcoming gift...TEXAS style!

Make them think you are totally crazy and might go off at any moment.

Get a liberal to coach you on the crazy act.

Well, He didn’t build the house.

I don’t see what the problem is.

Has he no sense of responsibility?

He is his brother’s keeper, as stated in the Holy Bible...

This has been going on in neighborhoods where I live. They are able to get the utilities turned on using a fake lease they produce. The police show up and have no way to verify that they are not the rightful occupant of the house.

I’ve read about cases like this before. For some crazy reason, it seems anybody can move into anybody’s temporarily empty house, and there is absolutely nothing the homeowner can do about it. Homeowners have zero rights in such situations.

As we descend into the abyss of socialism, property rights become blurred.
Imagine a policeman saying he can’t remove an unlawful occupant from your real property!
