Not everyone is great with home improvement projects, as evidenced in this video. Check out what just may be the worst garage door installation, ever. Sure, the garage now has a power door, but the lengths the installer has gone to seem a bit absurd.

Would be interesting to know just where the main box was?

Box of donuts? Nails? Old sweaters?

Try to be specific...

Umm... Hotel, not Motel. (Note sign)

That would be 55 Church St, Paterson, NJ...

I see that the Fabian Theater is in this photo. I thought it had been torn down, so the photo is probably an older one.

The elevator controls were wired in a similar fashion as this garage door opener. Every year the state elevator inspector would write a bunch of violations. Which were ignored and never fixed. Ever.

He went so far one year as to 'red tag' the elevator and padlock the mainline switch. The building 'maintenance' people cut off the lock, threw the switch back on and continued using the elevator...

If ever there was an elevator that terrified me to watch in operation, it was THAT ONE.
The way the ekevator “knew” where it was in the building was through this Rube Goldbergian “mini model” of the building, complete with elevator model.
It was an erector set cage, some pulleys, a spinning rod with a rising “card” inside the cab model that passed through slots that told the controller “elevator is HERE”.
It was quite frightening to watch.
Especially with the ARCING everywhere.

I’m there with you... the farmhouse I bought needs to have all the previous owner’s “upgrades”, retrograded. Electrical... plumbing... HVAC...and finishing work... I swear... the addition they added... I should just demo it.

The best I have found was a “remediated” leaking T&P valve on a domestic how water heater... the fix? A pipe plug.

Did you check the fuse box for pennies?

My parents house had a outlet that never worked. One day we decided to figure out why. Took the cover off, foud it connected to a two wire 18 guage extension cord plugged into a hidden outlet in the basement. Another 18 guage cord went somewhere, never foud what to. Removed it all and looked in every hidden spot for more suprises.

I’m scared of electricity. Even with proper tools and planning am normally bitten. Electricity hates everyone and everything near it. Electricity is the invisible nightmare. Use it (electricity) to recharge things like batteries and beeber. Beeber setting of stune always gets over to the fried crispy side and don’t think am holding down the button too long. Don’t know what goes wrong with beeber and electricity. Could it be the battery? Bob built this thing ‘the beeber’ and every-time ask about the beeber, according to timeline, awake in four or five days. Think Bob pulled a trick on me but doubt it. Bob’s a good guy. Mama said so.

Moose, am disappointed. Missed the whole point of the article. Garage door, think, wiring, electricity. Ever seen a wire look like fuse to a stick of dynamite? Strange how much they resemble one another when lit. One by electricity and one by match.

Same handyman installed the water heater.

If the bad wiring doesn’t get you, the carbon monoxide will.

I reckon you have no knowledge of what a main electrical box is! There a few more adjectives to soothe your hardened soul
of particulars!

In my younger years, I installed hundreds of electrical panels of various types.

Best one I heard was while contracting a remodel job on a building working at a facility that renovated Lear Jets and repainted them! A guy says “ Where does this cable attach we removed yesterday?”
Other guy “ Hell I don’t remember just hook it back there some where in the tail section, no one will notice.”

I think it’s more of someone’s idea for a joke.

Down to the rusty staple stains on the romex. They planned this a while.

Or,

It really was meant to be permanent.
