Take him to the vet, find out if he can be treated.

“Bing TNR which stands for trap neuter release, as there are groups all around that will trap stray cats, fix/check them, then bring them back.”

I like this idea, but where I live if you bring a feral cat to the local shelter, they put it down if it’s really sick.

I don’t believe in neutering cats or dogs. What gives humans the right to deny any creature its God-given right to reproduce?

The fact that you're feeding it.

We don't have much of a stray cat problem around here. Apparently, the coyotes have acquired a taste for cats. Unfortunately, we do have a coyote problem. That is best solved with the judicious use of assorted rifles and shovels.

There were a lot of feral cats in the neighborhood when I lived in Hawaii. We were told that if they got rid of the cats we’d be complaining about rats and mice. But at least they trap, spay/neuter and release them.

The kindest thing you can do for that cat is let Animal Control put him out of his misery. Its cruel to just let them run the streets til they finally die. Plus mange is very contagious. Your cat Gremlin may get it not to mention kitty HIV which is incurable. You cannot save them all I’ve tried.

We used to have the stray cat problem here in my neighborhood until the coyotes came to town. Now no stray cats.

Right. so don’t take it to the shelter. The TNR group won’t euthanize unless the cat has a deadly disease

Well, that's interesting.

Do you eat meat or wear leather shoes?

If you tell the vet it's a stray - they will most likely give you a break on the price AND not do all the tests and things they would normally do for your own cat.

At least my vet did, one time he actually called me at work and said he'd just realized who I was and said he'd give me a $75 “scholarship” he called it because I brought a stray pregnant kitten in and after the babies were born, I had it fixed.

Good luck, you have a good heart and you're doing the right thing.

PS - Do not feed a cat outside. My son started to call me “the cat lady” but that's another story. I would only feed your cat inside. The rest can beg at someone else’s house. See what feeding a cat got you into??

Tough call. I know you’d like to do the right thing. If $200 or a thousand wouldn’t be missed, call a vet. Most of us can’t afford to salvage every stray that comes around and would have to call animal control. Poor kitty. Life is unfair and tough sometimes, just ask the guy that got his head cut off by ISIS.

Quit smoking cigars until you save enough to get your cat fixed. And as irresponsible as you are, get yourself fixed, as well.

No need to get snitty. ;-)

I was fixed 28 years ago, btw. :-P

Around here we don’t fix barn cats. The more the merrier.

you’re not serious, are you? take a walk through one of your local shelters and you should come to the decision that it is our OBLIGATION to care them these animals by neutering them.

The Vet told me that. But he wouldn't do it because the kitten was only 6 weeks old when I first brought him there.

I've been worried about my other cats getting the ringworm. There's no way they will let me bathe them or put cream on them twice a day.

Does that sulpher-lime dip require just one dip?

Call or email the Friends of Feral Felines. They are great. They will help you trap him and give you the names of local vets who will vaccinate the cat and spay or neuter at a discounted price.

They also know where all the feral cat colonies are because they tend to them. They trap new cats and neuter them. They clip the ears of those who have been fixed so they don’t get fixed again. The cat colonies keep down the rodents in the area.
