When it comes to wild animals, those wild and wacky Californians are really something else.

I was licked by a giraffe at the National Zoo (Wash. DC) and and once had a giraffe spit on me at the Baltimore Zoo. Yuck.

Now really, we should be less judgmental. Who among us has not climbed into a giraffe's pen in a zoo and been kicked in the face?

Personally, I hate it when that happens...

Same here. I belched a nice big laugh.

Reminded me of this nutjob trying to be one with nature.
To bad the polar bear didn't give a hoot about her touchy feely.

And this guy who thought they could understand he was just being friendly.
Ironically people were more concerned about the bear surviving being shot.

I fed a fully grown giraffe once. The creature was basically a 20’ tall horse weighing two or three times what an average horse weighs.

I held up a branch filled with enough leaves to fill the upholstery in a living room couch pillow, and the giraffe just craned its head over and *fwoof* I was holding a stripped twig without a single leaf left. Then she bent over and looked me in the eye as if to say “MORE!”.

Other than that, the animal was as tame and docile as a common corral horse.

At least this crazy hippie girl wasn’t dumb enough to enter the rhinoceros habitat. I fed a rhino once (same day as I fed the giraffe) and I was never as nervous in my life as I was feeding that animal an entire celery root bulb. He just grabbed it with his lips and chomped it to mush in one bite, then he nibbled my hand with his lips to get an idea of what I ‘felt’ like. I damn near fainted, but I’d love to have a few rhinos as property watchdogs.

Siggy Freud would’ve had a field day psychoanalyzing this damsel. He would have asked her how long has she been repressing her rage about latent Electra urges? Electra is thought by some to be the female version of Oedipus Rex.

In Thailand there is a captive breeding facility for tigers.

They will let you feed a tiger cub milk after placing a 1/2 inch thick blanket on your lap to protect you from the claws.

That was weird

Read a sci-fi short one time that postulated scientists had cloned some dinosaurs from preserved dna in amber (yes, I said FICTION)

So some lefties from ALF (Animal Liberation Front) decide to free the dinosaurs.

As expected the hippy releasing the brontosaurus got stepped on and squished, and the one releasing the tyrannosaurus got et.

It was a good and satisfying short story.
