Is the media trying to get Ferguson police office Darren Wilson lynched?
CNN broadcast a report Friday that showed the house, including the street number, of the Ferguson police officer who police say shot Mike Brown. The officer has been in hiding due to death threats since the shooting last Saturday. His name, Darren Wilson, was just released Friday morning.
Another news outlet apologized for broadcasting video of Wilsons home while others have virtually drawn a map to Wilsons house for those bent on vengeance.
Yahoo News named the community Wilson where Wilson resides and published a photograph of the officer.
The UK Daily Mail also named the community, posted photos of the officer and gave a description of the house.
USA Today also named the community and reported a local police presence.
The Washington Post named the street where Wilson lives.
In the video report, CNN reporter Ed Lavandera is seen walking in the street where Wilson lives. The CNN video shows a wide view of Wilsons house and then pans around the street to show its relative position in the neighborhood. While Lavandera does not name the street, he gives its approximate location.
Every news report says neighbors told them Wilson has not been home for several days.
A version of the video being aired by CNN affiliate Newschannel 13 in Orlando, Florida (and likely other affiliates around the country including the St. Louis market) shows a brief close-up of the house number by the front door such that someone could freeze and enlarge the image to get the address.
The version of the report available online at CNN has that footage edited and replaced with a close-up of a front window of Wilsons house.

They had the apology ready before they broadcast the location of his home. They knew it was wrong but did it anyway.
That paper has an editor.
That editor has an address.
I fully expect that all justice believing folks will inflict double...no, triple...any damages done to the officer’s house onto this editor.
It is time to make the liberal slime afraid.
Very, very afraid
This is nothing short of news reporters condemning a man to death, and laying the groundwork for his lynch mob execution.
Hopefully, the reporters will be treated more kindly when they are caught, but I highly doubt it.
But most lawyers (and cops) don’t have to deal with a violent mob mentality out to ‘get’ them. This officer does. The publication of his home address is evil and should be illegal.
Even tho he is in hiding, his neighbors’ lives are turned upside down and they are put in danger. Disgusting press. How I’d love a mob to go to the homes of some of these reporters/editors/station managers/owners. Coverage might become a little different.
“But most lawyers (and cops) dont have to deal with a violent mob mentality out to get them. This officer does.”
Oh, I agree with you. The press got very upset after they’d published the locations of registered CCW holders addresses and somebody published their addresses. Turnabout is fair play.
If the people or the house is damaged then he should sue the press. (I normally don’t believe in lawsuits as generally the only beneficiaries are lawyers. But where press malfeasance is concerned I’d hope there was somebody willing to foot the bill.)
Now, Dems are up to their armpits in alligators. Everybody is angry with everybody.
The military weapons were provided to be used on us.
Watched the oldie Anatomy of a Murder last evening. J. Stewart playing the defense attorney asks a question which is so far over the line regarding relevancy to cause the wife of the defendant to ask: the judge said for the jury to disregard the question and for the info to be removed from the record, does that mean they will not consider it? He said NO.
Indeed. No matter whether the shooting was justified or not, sending in armoured shock troops with manned tripod-mounted machine guns on top of APCs is NOT justified. Because really, is there a situation where the Chief would order the machine-gunning of the crowd? Snipers are not enough, they had to imitate ISIS and the Nazis by openly setting up for mass executions? The Chief should be fired for that alone. And all it accomplished was the absolute enraging of an already ridiculously stupidly volatile crowd. The cops did everything they could to psychologically promote riots. And gee, look what they got. What a surprise.
"NBC regrets that, during our latest broadcast, we gave the address, latitude, longitude, and a street map of the police officer who shot Michael Brown. In our rush to get the information out, we left out the ideal times to visit him, his sleeping hours, all security measures he has taken, a complete list of his firearms and ammunition (and probably locations in the blueprint of the house we published). Furthermore, we deeply regret not including his social security number, exact date of birth, and photocopies of his license. We promise to be more vigilant in the future."
Real responsible reporting.
No problemo putting innocents in danger.
Crackuhs gotta die!
Classic example of yelling FIRE in a crowded theater. THE definition of the line that must be drawn in questions of free speech.
As when the newspaper posted a map showing where gun owners lived, they only took it down when someone else put up a map showing where *they*, the newspaper staff, lived.
Apologies after the fact do nothing. This was clearly an attempt to get this officer, and maybe his family, lynched, and should be taken in that spirit. So those who did so should pay, either in a court of law, or by having their own home and family potentially menaced.
If he were--God, forbid--they would be complicit and should be prosecuted.
Turnaround is fair play in this case. I saw that clip. I wonder if that reporter and his producer would like to see their addresses released?

You really think so? Try it and use your own name. All I get on myself is letters to the editor that were posted online........
It's not as easy as you make it out to be........
As a side note, there's a difference between one attempting to locate the address of anyone on the internet and that of a news agency using their powers to locate then publish such information........
In Florida law enforcement is protected by law. You cant locate them using any government records.
Well that's a no brainer! Nor can you use any govt. records to locate anybody else........
