Swat Team Raids Innocent Woman's Home; Lawsuit Filed
Liveleak ^

Posted on 08/13/2014 8:28:01 AM PDT by Dacula

An elderly woman's home was raided by police after she was suspected of making anonymous online threats against the Evansville police department and Chief Billy Bolin.

The 68-year-old woman, Louise Milan was in the house with her 18 year old adopted daughter when police shattered a glass door and burst in after throwing flash grenades inside.

Police came up empty-handed in the search for evidence about who had made the threatening posts but only after damaging Louise Milan’s house, handcuffing her and her adopted daughter and seizing their computers, according to a lawsuit that has been filed against the city of Evansville.

The FBI later arrested Derrick Murray, a suspected local gang leader who lived nearby in his mother’s house and was using his smartphone to access the Milan's unsecured wireless network.

City attorneys contend that the force used to execute the search warrant, was “objectively reasonable” and that officials are immune from liability.

With respect to another post, this is why you publish their (police) names, addresses and family members. They are so over the top and this needs to stop. What would have been wrong with simply picking up the woman for questioning?

Immune from liability?

so were many Nazi death camp guards.. or so they claimed.

Taking the police state to new levels of incredulity.

“and that officials are immune from liability.”?
Tell me this isn’t some kind of horse crap?
All officials ought be responsible for all the B.S. they cause.

Some people join the force because they like to get dressed in real tough looking gear. Others, because they like throwing those flashy grenades. Others, because they think people are a$$holes and like to shoot them up.

As the country falls deeper into fascism, this will happen more and more.

The person who is falsely targeted HAS NO (fornicating) RECOURSE. Doesn’t even get an apology. Forget trying to get money for the damage. Forget criminal prosecutions for shooting up innocent people reaching for the TV remote to turn the sound down.

Outrageous. Is this going on all over the country or only in certain regions?

Good question.

she was suspected of making anonymous online threats

How do the police know for sure that she was the one making threats? Could it be some hackers testing out their skills at getting other people's computers to do stuff remotely?

Didn't read this until after I had posted.

Dang, I am good!

the messages did originate with the victim’s IP address and that the threats were made by a gang leader

And they couldn't first investigate the likelihood that a gang leader lived in the 68-year-old woman's home? "Piss-poor" doesn't begin to describe this police 'work.'

that would not have been a problem with the foolishly unsecured network

Which could have been ascertained with a couple of mouse clicks to determine network and status. If unsecured, at least my archaic version of windows will tell me that--but then any wifi device could have accessed the network without even knocking on the door--including one in the hands of the police, and determined it was unsecured. You just have to be as smart as the phone...

“Piss-poor” doesn’t begin to describe this police ‘work.’”

“Police” and “Work” are pretty much mutually exclusive. It’s much easier and more fun to have a so-called Judge sign a bogus warrant, dress up in tough guy gear, and bust down an old ladies door. Hilarity ensues.

Work? Rather meet down at the local doughnut hole and laugh about terrorizing senior citizens.

“objectively reasonable” force. Couldn’t they have knocked on the friggin’ door and served a warrant?

What are you thinking?

A 68 year old woman and a teen age girl!

How could you expect a cop to knock on the door when such dangerous people are inside?

The chief and every member of that detail should be fired immediately.

This is coming to your town.

It may be there already, just waiting.

Two Women, one of them elderly, known to be in the home and it requires a Special Forces entry. Why did they not go ahead and kill the ladies when they had the opportunity for a little more recreation? Innate cowardice must be a requirement for employment as a police officer.

IT SHOULD COME OUT OF EVERY ARS HATS PAYCHECK

No... this is wrong... The cops should be fired, and payouts should be paid out of the PBA Local's Treasury.

It would behoove the union to vet it's membership a bit better than turn sociopaths free on the public... at the cost of the public.

Any more they don’t need the poodle to shoot. They can shoot everyone in the house so long as each shooter follows up with the statement” I felt threatened.” Then their little bit of fun will be followed by a paid vacation and eventually awards.

95% of everything SWAT seems to do in your country is unnecessary. And when they do that, they do it against the helpless. There is no way they would do this against a serious city gang or one of the cartel franchises.

‘...but let’s not forget the judge who rubber-stamps the warrants.’

Exactly...theyre the cover the police need to act illegally. Remember gang its not the police running wild...its the ‘judges’.
