"With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall," the estate said on a verified Twitter account.
Bacall was married to Humphrey Bogart from the mid-1940s until his death in 1957. They had two children.

I heard George Takei interviewed on NPR the other day (yeah, I listen to NPR all the time now, but fox news is back on Sirius so that might change).
He told a story about getting cast in “The Green Berets” on how he told John Wayne: you might not want to hire me, because you know I don’t agree with your politics and I’m very against the war.
And John Wayne told him: We’re both Americans and entitled to our opinions, I just want the best actor for the part.
So, I was glad to hear him tell that story, because some people would cut their throats first, if you know what I mean and I think you do.
She is now 47.
Katherine Hepburn loved him when they made the equal to “True Grit”.
Their political ideology melted when confronted by the power of The Duke.
What a squirrel.

The way you say you-all
You look at me over your shoulder

To explain the time gap, Bogart was born in 1899, and was 45 when he met her at the age of 19. They were married she was 20 years old.
She was still working, mostly voice acting for the last decade or so, and was in the English version of the Studio Ghibli hit Howl’s Moving Castle (2004).
Condolences to family and friends of Lauren Bacall.

Her quotes:
A woman isn’t complete without a man. But where do you find a man - a real man - these days?
I am not a has-been. I am a will be.
Two of my favorite in one week. This one hits me hard.
She was a beautiful woman, and a damn good actress.
All the good ones are going...
I was never a fan. RIP.
Loved her, Bogie, and Edward G. Robinson in Key Largo.
I did not know that. I was quoting from Humphrey Bogart’s will. I always thought that “Betty Bogart” sounded funny, like a character from Zippy The Pinhead or something.
May she rest in peace and receive salvation.
RIP, Slim. I didn’t agree with her politics but I’ll always love her classic movies where her politics never came up on screen(at least in the films I saw).
