as often as I disagree with metmom about stuff I fully agree with her regarding a Pap Test to which I would just add: “If you play - you’ll pay.”
It is not that a 12 - 13 yo girl cannot understand that - it is just that the downside risks are NEVER explained in SexEd class.

The problem with the promises made by the vaccine manufacturer is the false sense of security that it will give women.
They’re going to be thinking that if they have the vaccine, they don’t need to worry when being promiscuous and that they won’t need to bother with pap smears.
Pap tests can detect cervical cancer when it’s easily treatable.
Will some people get it anyway?
Of course. Nothing can prevent everything. Bad things are going to happen to some people and there’s simply nothing that can be done about it.
So inflicting a vaccine that has the kind of track record this one has, especially with the way the government has pushed it through, and every knows the government is here to protect us, is foolhardy.
Might it provide protection?
Maybe.
But maybe’s and exceptions are bad things to make rules over.
And at the end of the day, it’s the decision of the parents and child to make the decision for themselves, and freely in this country without having to deal with being labeled as a misogynist by some control freak who wants to run my life and doesn’t care what tactics they use to intimidate me into complying with how they think I should live and think.
