A white suburban Detroit homeowner was found guilty on Thursday of second-degree murder in the shooting of an unarmed black teen on his porch in a case that set off protests and fanned racial tensions. Theodore Wafer, 55, sat stone-faced, staring straight ahead as the jury delivered its verdict after less than two full days of deliberations. He was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter and firearms charges. [The shotgun] is a dangerous weapon and the way he handled it - he handled it like a toy, and as a result a 19-year-old is dead. - Wayne County assistant prosecuting attorney Patrick Muscat The airport maintenance worker faces up to life in prison for killing Renisha McBride, 19, with a shotgun blast through his locked screen door after he was awakened in the early hours of Nov. 2 by repeated, violent knocking on his door. McBride, who had been drinking and smoking marijuana, was apparently disoriented when she arrived Wafer's house seeking help after getting in a car crash, according to testimony.....

Your ‘little girl’ was a stoned, drunk, bloody (from the accident) teen, banging incessantly in the middle of the night.

No it doesn’t, and obviously Texas law is not “clear” about killing a woman knocking at your front door and letting you get away with it.
This guy got the right sentence.
What's done is done, I guess. Hopefully, they will find a place where this fellow will feel more comfortable, less frightened.
Beating on the door in Texas at night when you are drunk can get you killed. People have been no-billed here for shoots like that.
/johnny
Give it up, Texas law doesn’t allow this, and this case has not been duplicated in Texas with the guy being no-billed.
Your earlier post was simply overdone, why keep beating this into the ground and seeking something that isn’t there.
Then that's porchicide. And if it was painted any color other than white, it's a hate porchicide.
Listen, there just isn't any way to make shooting a little girl seem heroic. It's idiotic in Detroit. It's idiotic in Waco. It's idiotic everywhere. And, none of the Texans that I know are nearly as idiotic as you try to make them appear.
Try to look on the bright side here. This guy isn't going to have any little girls banging on his cell door. He's safe now. ;-)
“I also tried to paint your Beemer, but when I held up the paint brush, he stopped gardening and ran off.”
“Then I tried to paint your daughter’s Audi, until I found out that she had an innie.”
Deadly force is authorized to prevent criminal mischief at night. That’s the law.

LOL, she wasn’t doing “Criminal Mischief”, she wasn’t committing a crime by knocking on his door.
She was a drunken and stoned teen, not a little girl. Read Texas law on use of deadly force.

Beating on the door when drunk and stoned does qualify.
/johnny
No it doesn’t, why do you keep throwing stuff out there that isn’t true?
Just because you say it doesn’t make it true. Repeated violent banging on the door in the small hours of the night when drunk and stoned will get you at least arrested for ciminal mischief around here.
/johnny
You just keep making wild claims that even your own links on Texas law, show aren’t true.

Texas law is pretty clear.

What does it say about shooting an unarmed woman knocking on your door and shooting her through the locked screen door?

A drunk and stoned peson violently beating on a door in the small hours qualifies for criminal mischief. Texas law authorizes the use of force regardless of whether she is armed or not.
You are a waste of time. Plonk.
/johnny
No it doesn’t, a woman knocking on your door is not committing a criminal act, or “Criminal Mischief” and killing her through your locked screen door is not legal.

You're right that she had made poor choices and possibly endangered others. But, she wasn't likely looking to do him any harm. That's all I meant.
Copy it and send it to Mr. Wafer. Maybe you can become his pen-pal lawyer. You know where to find him:
