COLUMBUS, Ohio - Hair coloring and facial treatments like Botox help many people look and feel younger, but increasingly, more men are seeking a way to feel younger. In record numbers, they're seeking a way boost to the male hormone testosterone.

We've seen the ads that warn of low testosterone, the male hormone that builds muscle, controls fat, and improves sex drive. They show a man concerned about less energy, moodiness and a low sex drive.

Urologist Dr. Gregory Lowe at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center says he has seen patients come in asking for the hormone even without documented low testosterone levels.

Many of them are receiving it, too. Online ads offer a dizzying number of products. There are over-the-counter supplements at health stores, as well hormone injections from doctors or prescription gels.

Warning! If you should fail to wake in the morning, discontinue use and call your physician.

Quit smoking and drinking, eat right, step away from the computer, and get some exercise in the fresh air.

Could it be that simple?

Yes, blood pH of 6.8 means you are dead. Therefore, cancer is not an issue.

Testosterone does not cause prostate cancer! If it did, we would see men under 30 being diagnosed. Stop the soymilk and other soy food stuff, limit flaxseed and chia seeds, remove sugar and exercise through the use of resistant training and low to moderate cardio and your estrogen level will remain low, thus preventing the drop in progesterone. This should keep testosterone free and thus, not damaging. As for GH, most seniors do not havelow levels. Raising testosterone, correctly, has profound, positive effects. No doubt about it. Just 30 weighted squats every other day, has the ability to shift testosterone metabolism.

I'm not a fan of this treatment. Democrats just don't produce much testosterone. If you provide an artificial boost, their little bodies will produce even less to adjust to the sissy equilibrium that is natural in liberal half-men. Why waste the money?

I didn’t say that testosterone causes prostate cancer. But if an older man HAS prostate cancer, I’ve heard that testosterone treatment can often cause it to advance more quickly.

It’s advertising. All these drugs and treatments are advertised everywhere. I hear them on my shop radio listening to Levin.

Just sayin’ a 70 year old man with a 19 year old girlfriend doesn’t need Viagra or testosterone patches....

Quit smoking and drinking, eat right, step away from the computer, and get some exercise in the fresh air.

Quit smoking; drink in moderation, especially vino rosso; eat a well balanced, healthy diet in both quality and quantity -- most of the time; and stay physically active every day even if that means walking up two or three flighs of stairs insteading of riding the elevator or parking at the mall in the furthest space from the entrance even if closer spaces are available.

Sorry for the misunderstanding... docs standard treatment is to inhibit testosterone. Unfortunately, this concept has not been very successful long term.

I would think it would completely eliminate your bodies own capacity to produce testosterone, and that you would become permanently dependent on it.

It does and they tell you that up front.

Keep it mind, the normal reference range is not a optimal number. Therapy can be very beneficial, if properly administered and complimented with correct lifestyle changes and proper exercise.
