I’ve been listening to classical music at work, and I can absolutely see an increase in my productivity and overall output. It stimulates the brain and is much more effective than country or rock, IMO.

I listen to classical to calm me down on the way home as traffic in Houston is horrendous.

Because of me watching Endeavor and liking the old Morse series, I ordered the soundtracks. Morse has arrived and sometimes during the day, I let it roll at low level. It helps me feel a, little better overall.

There videos showing how listening to music uses multiple areas of the brain. Those with aphasia (left brain stroke) can sometimes learn to sing/speak depending on damage.

My teenage grandson has been listening to non-vocal classical music during homework time since he was in pre-k. Although he does listen to the popular non-rap music at other times his favorite group since he was three has always been Manhattan Transfer. Parents always have music playing in the background at home and the TV is rarely on so it’s what he grew up with.

Classical music calms the soul. My nephew tells a story about when his three kids were little, he and his wife decided to play classical music at dinnertime. The kids always remained well behaved during the meal when this music was played. One night his wife forgot to turn on the music and his three-year old boy asked him, “Daddy, can we have some popcycle music again tonight?”

Another thing that calms people is candlelight (a bit off the subject, but true)
