it's an interesting article
Although this isn't the first attempt at a double barrel pistol design, Arsenal claims that they will be the first to produce the pistols for the public - in the 1990's a Swiss armorer Vivian Mueller produced a double-barreled 9mm Sig P220 firearm using two stock weapons, custom fabrication, milling and a ton of custom made parts.

I could see Bruce Willis with a couple of these.

Interesting but a little unhandy for very little gain,
I remember when Gibsons discount store sold a little two shot .22LR pistol called the gaucho. It was sort of like a tiny double barrel shotgun. There was a hammer for each barrel and they were single, er double shot. Also a trigger for each barrel.

If it used ordinary 1911 magazines and had a somewhat ordinary grip I’d go for it as a curio piece.

If a design could be made for two interlocking pistols, each sold separately but “connectible” and some solution to the problem of two closely spaced triggers could be be found, it would be a cool, in-your-face response to magazine limits. Each gun has a limited 8 or 10 rd mag but connected, I have a 16 or 20 rd weapon.
Other than that, I agree, a solution looking for a problem.

Still only fires one barrel at a time, save your money and get a quality gun with a double stack mag.

It worked with the P-51. Why not the 1911?

I handled one at the Shot Show last year.
Appears to be very well made but is also very heavy and the grips are huge! I have big hands and couldn't hold it securely.
Would be fun as a novelity but it is also expensive.

Why not just carry and extra mag, or two guns?

They had these on the old “Get Smart” Television series, except they were revolvers (specifically, “The Stereo Revolver). KAOS contracted with Japanese company to manufacture them. They were distributed to enemy agents through a “Green Stamp” catalog center.
Unfortunately for KAOS, the Japanese manufacturer didn't really understand the specifications. Squeezing the trigger caused the revolver play music from local radio stations...in stereo!

Why not simply redesign the 1911 to carry a double stack magazine so the shooter has more shots?
