It is unwise to not secure a dog when opening a door, *however*, depending on where one lives, having a dog right at the door when you open it could very well mean life or death.
I have a door ~before~ my exterior door so the dogs do not interact with visitors...unless I want them to.
It says the dog was taken and attended to for its injury.
