Denver Broncos team owner Pat Bowlen is steeping down from day-to-day operations because he is battling Alzheimer's Disease
...
The Broncos said Bowlen had already been reducing his role in recent years while he was, "courageously and privately battling Alzheimers disease."
"The Broncos are very saddened that Mr. Bowlen is no longer able to be part of the teams daily operations due to his condition," the team said on its website. "We continue to offer our full support, compassion and respect to Mr. B, who has faced Alzheimers disease with such dignity and strength."
Team president Joe Ellis will assume control of the Broncos and add the title of Chief Operating Executive. It is assumed that John Elway will remain as Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager.

His most famous quote: “49ers? They got that Chinaman wide receiver. What’s his name, Rice?” He may have had it back then.
Bowlen first revealed in May 2009 that he was experiencing short-term memory loss
Wouldn’t wish Alzheimer’s on my worst enemy.
I knew something was wrong with this yo-yo when he fired Mike Shanahan...won two super bowls, and all of a sudden he can’t coach?
A lame comment, IMHO.
Well if that's the criteria, then Jerry Jones has had it for years.
I agree, Jerry Jones has it in spades!
There was nothing all of a sudden about it. Shanahan has 1 playoff win after Elway retired. In the “what have you done for me lately world” that is sports that was a gotstago stat.
Exactly. It’s not as if Shanahan was fired right after winning a Super Bowl, unlike a certain coach who is now on Fox NFL Sunday.
