What was Firefly about anyhow? A lot of fans of it here.
Seriously, it was a sci-fi show on another solar system with many habitable planets. The first colonized were urbanized and very high tech. The outer and most recently settled ones were less populated and relatively low tech with horses as the primary on-planet transportation method and many of the standard western themes.
It had a great mix of main characters with wonderful writing. Unfortunately it only lasted part of a season before it was canceled because Fox put it on the Friday night death slot, showed the episodes in the wrong order and skipped weeks because of baseball playoffs.
The only person that ever messed with Mal and got away with it was young River Tam.
You REALLY didn't want to mess with her. The stormtroopers at the end of the move Serenity got to live through sheer luck of the timing.

Simply put, think a western set in space. But far more than that. About a group of people just trying their lives free from interference from an interfering government that gives corporations far too much power. Living out on the frontier, so they can do that.
One of the most conservative TV shows, I've ever seen.
Two of the characters are veterans of a war to try and resist the rule of the Alliance. Others are just people who like them, want to be free - or haven't been left with a choice.
