FULL TITLE: Fury at Rolf Harris’s ‘unduly lenient’ jail term: Attorney General to review sentence of five years and nine months - as paedophile’s daughter puts on brave face after watching her father sent down

Rolf Harris was jailed for five years and nine months today - but the sentence will be reviewed amid claims it is 'unduly lenient'.

The 84-year-old showed no emotion as he faced the prospect of dying behind bars after he was told he will serve a minimum of three years.

Just hours earlier, the disgraced entertainer had been pictured laughing and joking as he took a boat ride from his home in Bray, Berkshire to court.

Even moments before he was sentenced, Harris appeared relaxed, smiling and chatting to the security guards sitting beside him in the dock.

The only problem with that is there are multiple victims claiming Harris molested them.

I never heard of it.

You must not have been a pop music fan in the summer of 1963, when "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport" was one of my favorite songs. Interestingly, another of my favorites was "Blowin' in the Wind" by Peter, Paul & Mary. This was long before I discovered that it was a Communist song.

I sure hope nothing bad ever comes out on “Captain Kangaroo”.

Something did. In 1977, he had a radio program called "Young People." On one of these broadcasts, he praised the ultra-radical feminist Letty Cottin Pogrebin. But I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumned that he was unaware of her radical background.

Looks like he’ll probably be out in less than a year. Prison terms in the UK for multiple convictions are usually served concurrently rather than consecutively.

I wonder if he’ll be deported to Australia at the end of his sentence though? It’ll be like the good old days...

I was gutted when I heard about this. He was a childhood hero to no less than three generations of kids. My mum used to watch him in the 1960s and I watched him doing ‘Rolf’s Cartoon Club’ in the 1980s. Shows how you can never tell who these people are.

MTV wasn’t a bad station in the early days, when they played just music videos. I would say the golden era was from 1981 to about 1995. That’s when they started showing much less music and much more “tv shows”. Now it is a running joke that MTV even plays music at all.

Jake the peg leg

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I last heard this song on the radio in England in the summer of '66.

multiple victims claiming Harris molested them.

When you dig deeper into the actual allegations, which were not stated in this article, you will find that they dealt strictly with improper touching or fondling, not sexual intercourse.

And since the events of these claimants occured in the 60's, 70's and 80's, (30, 40 and 50 years ago) I have to question the legitimacy of these accusations as well as how it came to be that all these so called molestees were located.

Last but more foremost in my mind, who stands to profit most from the imprisonment of Harris? The "grieving" daughter whose best friend had the most compelling testimony against him?

I'm not about to argue his innocence or guilt, I'm just saying that all of this occuring decades after the alleged incidents occured stinks to high heaven..........

A lot of evidence from unrelated people is corroboration. It is not in the interests of his daughter to see him convicted of sex offences because his estate, which she will one day inherit, will be whittled away in compensation payouts to the victims.
