The food sampling operation across 20 fast food outlets in Lancashire also found ham on 10 out of 15 pizzas contained turkey DNA
A trading standards department has revealed EVERY takeaway they investigated in a recent inspection has been selling customers pizzas containing fake cheese.
Officers visited 20 outlets in Lancashire for the food sampling operation and performed tests on ingredients used in hundreds of pizzas sold to customers.
Each premises failed on descriptions of the ham, cheese, or both.
The report revealed 19 out of 20 samples were found to contain analogue cheese - an artificial cheesy substance that is much quicker and cheaper to produce than real cheese.
Inspectors found 10 out of the 15 pizzas that purported to contain ham actually contained turkey DNA.
Four samples that were advertised as containing pepperoni were found to contain species in addition to beef or pork.

Give global warming a few years, and you will be able to.
Then I can leave the oven door open while it cooks! Great in winter!
I know what you mean about the grated cheese. We have good pizza joints here in NJ but I wouldn’t put that nasty stuff on my pizza.
It is hard to find real cheese in the grocery store too. IF it says cheese food, it ain’t. lol
“I grew out of pizza when I was in my early 20s. Dont care for it much at all anymore.”
I learned how to make my own recently, and really like it. I make a very thin crust and cook it at 450 degrees, Makes the crust crispy that way
I do all kinds of things such as asparagus chicken with bacon and feta cheese.
Or take the chicken and mix it with BBQ sauce and add bacon and mushrooms.
Make my own pesto; that goes great as well.
I don’t like the doughy carb laden stuff that chains make however.
It’s certainly uncontaminated by cheese.
Faux Cheese?
Elsie gonna be mad.
No such thing as a bad pizza or day of golf. Some are much better than others, but they’re all at least ok. Bring on the fake cheese.
Japo-Scandinavian imitation cheese substitute?
“Praytell what animal does Pepperoni supposed to come from?”
Cured pork and beef mashed together.
The one down the way from me used to have cheese “with a kiss of buffalo milk”. It went out of business. I wonder who milked the buffalo.......
Bought a pkg of ‘grated sharp cheese’ from HEB (Hill Country Farms brand). It was fake. Melted down to nothing but oil.
I wonder who kissed the buffaloes?
This is the UK where blood sausage and mashed potatoes are considered high end cuisine. When I went to England after spending a few weeks in France I could not wait to get back to Paris for some real food.
There is a pizza chain (I forget which one) that advertises using “parmesan-inspired” cheese. And that’s not even one of the mystery ingredients.
You don’t consider curry real food?
Wow, a quick google turned up a UK company that advertises it makes “cheese substitutes” including “eezy mozz” fake mozzarella. They say it saves manufacturing costs. I bet it does. Eezy Peezy.
