Supernatural, Chuck and Castle were three programs that nearly got cancelled at the end of their first season. Never seen an episode of any of those.

Crackle is a small player really.
A lot of shows and movies on Hulu are actually free.. Hulu Plus might be unnecessary for many people.

So why do demonstrably popular shows like 30 Rock and Community struggle so hard? Because they are not actually popular?
I tried to watch 30 Rock. I have yet to make it through an episode before flipping over to something else out of boredom.
I do admit to rarely watching prime time shows live. I'll watch them when I have time not when they demand I watch. Since I pay for that privilege they can either like it or lump it.

You wouldn't watch “Big Bang CSI:Pasadena”?

I don’t know ... is it Pasadena, California, or Pasadena, Texas? “Walker, Texas Ranger” might show up in the latter, and he’s a cutie-pie.

My teenagers like “Supernatural.” It’s on Netflix and is really creepy. I find myself watching it sometimes, just because I’m too lazy to leave the room ... it’s clever, and the lead actors are cute, but ... eeeeeeeew.

Could have been, in one episode. They have all kinds of gross antagonists.

I don’t think so. I think it’s about two young men.

California. With Amy and Bernadette as the lab rats and Sheldon as the lead detective.

I dont understand what roku does or why I need it. Could someone explain, please?
There is a ton of (pay, subscription and/or free) entertainment content on the internet (TV, Movies, etc), but it is not as easy to find and play on your TV as a cable/dish box, relatively speaking. ROKU is basically a computer with a user interface that helps you find all that streaming internet content and play it on your TV.
You could also do something similar by connecting an internet connected PC running XBMC to your TV. ROKU is more of a ready to go "plug & play" solution.
If internet streaming content is something you want to do and you like to tinker, go the PC route. If you don't like to tinker, go the ROKU route.

Cute young men. I rarely think men are cute if Elen (my 16-year-old) does, but in this case, we agree. Anoreth and I agree more often ;-).

Wouldn’t that be too much like “Monk”? Why not Raj as the detective?

I travel a lot and constantly miss the dang few shows I want to watch. Why don’t the networks charge a modest subscription or per-episode fee to allow me to access that content from their website on demand? I could pay $2 per episode and come out waaaaaay ahead of what I’m paying for cable each month.
I guess the question is: Would $2 per episode amount to more than they make when I (single viewer) watch the episode with commercials at the regularly scheduled airtime?
To: GeronL
I don’t know. I rarely watch anything but sports, movies, HGTV, Food Network, or a bit of news.
