Shock Claim: Police Officer Slit Dog’s Throat

A Baltimore police officer is facing felony animal cruelty charges after he allegedly slit the throat of a 7 year-old dog that had already been placed under control.

The incident happened Saturday, and Baltimore police officials announced charges against the unnamed officer on Wednesday.

Sarah Gossard’s Shar Pei, Nala, was loose over the weekend when police were called to catch her.

But after using a dog pole to round up Nala, one officer made a shocking move.

“Unfortunately, at some point after the dog was contained, one of our officers used a knife and cut the dog’s throat,” said Baltimore police deputy commissioner Dean Palmere, according to WBAL.

“This is outrageous and unacceptable breach of our protocol,” he said.

Nala’s owner, Sarah Gossard, said that she believes that Nala bit someone but that the officer’s actions were out of line.

“She was just the sweetest dog and would never hurt anyone. She was just scared that day and through all of those events – scared and lost, thirsty, hungry,” Gossard told WBAL.

No idea. If they are, I hope the JBT has to pay for it.

Put that monster in a restraint pole and slit his throat. On Pay Per View.

Ugh! Clowns... [shivers]

Cops are climbing onto my [unladylike word] list very quickly these days.

I looked them up, and the puppies sell for $400 to $700 each.   Heaven knows what an adult would cost.

Some comments on the site recommended Shar Pei Rescue to get a less expensive alternative.

They’re not going to do well in a Balto prison.

Someday, a big dude named LeShaun is gonna say the same thing when he sees him come onto the tier.

Really. What’s the deal with so many cops killing animals these days? When “regular” people do it, it’s an indication that they’re on a path to serial killing. When cops do it... no big deal.

He’s getting a felony cruelty charge.
Animal cruelty is a felony, here.

If he goes to jail, he’s going to be reuniting with all the “brothers” he’s arrested over the years.

Ain’t gonna be pretty.

[LMAO]

Sunday night we found a freshly struck doe on the mountain.

To me, she looked hopelessly damaged.

At least one severely broken rear leg.

We were on the bikes and had no way to alleviate her misery so I called 911.

A state trooper arrived and I gave my opinion but he went and checked her out himself.

He came back and said he’d sit with her a while and observe her to see if she had any chance at all *and* mentioned the DNR and wildlife rescue people.

He was absolutely loathe to “waste” her life if she could be healed.

We went home and I did not hear any shots that night.

The next day, there was no sign of her or blood where she’d been so I *think* he must have had them come out to save her.

I do not know that for a certainty *but*, no matter the outcome, an angel of mercy answered our call.

Either he found her help and she’s recovering somewhere *or* someone who did not take lightly her death, respectfully ended her suffering.

I was deeply affected by the whole experience.

There are very, *very* decent cops out there, who have good souls.

I know. The story in the Original Post said that he was arrested, which kind of shocked me because
I am used to the “blue shield” coming up when one of them does something as horrible as this.

He’s suspended without pay as well, and I do hope that he does time. Slitting someone’s pet’s throat
and slaughtering it “just because” is a sign of a sociopath and sadist. May he fall off the blue shield
and never have a position of power over anyone or any animal again.

A lifelong ban is not long enough for this monster.

“Either he found her help and she’s recovering somewhere *or* someone who did not take lightly her death, respectfully ended her suffering.”

Or she ended up in his (or a buddy’s) freezer. Not to be flippant, but I’m playing the odds here.

There wasn’t enough meat on her for one meal.

She was a very small yearling doe.

I could have picked her up and carried her home the bike, if I’d wanted to.

My male Dobe is bigger than she was.
